Sr. Project Manager – Power Electronics BU : L&T - PES - Power Electronics & BESS Location: Bangalore Position Overview We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Project Manager with 5-16 years of experience in power electronics product development to lead end-to-end execution of converter-based projects (DC-DC / AC-DC). The role involves cross-functional coordination, technical understanding, supplier engagement, and ensuring timely delivery aligned with cost, quality, and performance targets. Key Responsibilities Project Planning & Execution • Lead end-to-end project management for power converter development (concept to production) • Define project scope, timelines, deliverables, and milestones • Develop and maintain project schedules (Gantt charts, trackers) • Monitor progress against design gates (e.g., concept, design, validation, industrialization) Technical Coordination • Work closely with hardware, firmware, mechanical, thermal, and PCB layout teams • Ensure alignment with design requirements, specifications, and standards • Support technical decision-making through basic understanding of: • Power converter topologies (Buck, Boost, Flyback, LLC, etc.) • Thermal management (heat sinks, cooling strategies) • EMI/EMC compliance • PCB design constraints for power electronics Supplier & Stakeholder Management • Coordinate with vendors, design partners (e.g., PCB, CFD, magnetics, fabrication) • Support RFQ, vendor selection, and onboarding processes • Track supplier deliverables, lead times, and risks • Manage communication with internal stakeholders (Engineering, Quality, Procurement, Management) Risk Management & Issue Resolution • Identify project risks proactively (technical, supply chain, resource-related) • Develop and track mitigation plans • Handle change management and deviations effectively • Escalate critical issues in a structured and timely manner Cost & Resource Management • Track engineering hours, development cost, and BOM targets • Support cost optimization through: • Design reviews (DFM, DFA) • Supplier alternatives • Value engineering initiatives Quality & Compliance • Ensure adherence to quality processes (APQP, ISO standards, internal guidelines) • Support design reviews, validation plans, and testing milestones • Ensure proper documentation and traceability Documentation & Reporting • Maintain: • Project plans • Risk registers • Meeting minutes • Status reports • Prepare and present periodic project updates including: • Milestones • Risks & mitigation • Cost & resource status • Support required Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Electronics / Power Electronics Engineering • PMP /Scrum master certification is a plus • 4–12 years of experience in: • Power electronics product development OR • Engineering project management in electronics domain Required Skills Technical Skills • Basic understanding of: • Power electronics converters (DC-DC, AC-DC) • PCB development lifecycle • Thermal and EMI considerations • Familiarity with tools (preferred): • MS Project / Excel-based trackers • MS Visio Project Management Skills • Strong planning, scheduling, and coordination capability • Experience with structured methodologies (APQP, Stage-Gate preferred) • Ability to manage multiple vendors and cross-functional teams Soft Skills • Excellent communication and stakeholder management • Strong problem-solving and decision-making • Ability to work under tight timelines and dynamic environments • High level of ownership and accountability Preferred Experience • Experience in industrial, automotive, or railway power electronics applications • Exposure to: • Industrialization activities • Supply chain coordination • Prototype to production transition Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) • On-time milestone achievement • Cost adherence vs. plan • Risk closure effectiveness • Supplier delivery performance • Quality of project documentation and reporting
