Your new role As our Medical Excellence Lead in Global Medical Affairs, you will be the driving force behind insights-driven decision-making across all Therapy Areas. This is a role where strategic thinking meets operational rigour — you will design and embed the frameworks, processes and governance that ensure medical insights are collected, synthesised, prioritised and translated into strategy, action and measurable impact. Sitting at the intersection of Global and Worldwide Medical Affairs, you will serve as a central connector — aligning insights across regions, integrating them into medical plans and converting them into coordinated actions that support patients, healthcare professionals and our strategic priorities. Your key responsibilities will include: Drive insights-based decision-making Establish and lead the Global Medical Affairs insights-to-action framework in collaboration with Therapy Area Medical teams, defining common principles, processes, tools and governance for insights generation and use Facilitate evidence-based prioritisation of strategic questions, opportunities and medical activities — and ensure visibility of key insights and actions at GMA leadership level Develop insights themes and strategic questions Partner with Global Therapy Area teams to define key insights themes and questions aligned with medical strategy, patient needs, healthcare-system priorities and the product lifecycle Identify emerging trends, evidence gaps, unmet needs and shifts in the external environment that may affect medical strategy Integrate insights into medical strategy and planning Design processes to ensure insights are systematically reviewed and incorporated into Global Medical Affairs strategies, medical plans and evidence-generation priorities Support lifecycle planning, launch preparation, indication strategy and ongoing strategy refinement through relevant insights synthesis Enable Global–Regional alignment Establish effective two-way communication mechanisms between Global and Regions, ensuring regional insights inform global strategy and global priorities are understood and applied consistently Build a connected community of practice for Medical Affairs insights generation and utilisation across markets Track actions, decisions and impact Develop dashboards and tracking mechanisms for priority insights, decisions, actions, milestones and outcomes Define and track metrics that demonstrate the quality, timeliness, adoption and impact of insights-driven decision-making Build capabilities and embed ways of working Assess insights-management capabilities across Global and Worldwide Medical Affairs, and develop training, guidance and practical tools to raise the bar Coach teams on insights collection, synthesis, interpretation, strategic storytelling and translation into action Support compliant and high-quality execution Ensure insights-generation and engagement processes are aligned with applicable company policies, industry codes, privacy requirements and compliance standards Your new department In Product & Portfolio Strategy we drive commercial strategy, medical affairs and business development across all therapy areas. We act as a connector and compass, guiding the new Novo Nordisk portfolio for sustained competitiveness upstream, and maximising portfolio potential through successful commercial strategies and competitive launches downstream. Within Product & Portfolio Strategy, the Global Medical Affairs team operates across Therapy Areas to ensure that medical strategy is grounded in evidence, shaped by insights and connected to patient needs. You will work closely with Therapy Area Medical Directors, regional and affiliate Medical Affairs functions, as well as cross-functional partners in Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, Market Access, Evidence Generation, HEOR and Digital & Analytics. The role is global in scope and involves engagement with diverse internal and external stakeholders — including medical experts, KOLs and external consultants. Your skills & qualifications We are looking for a strategic and analytical Medical Affairs professional who thrives in complexity, connects the dots across functions and geographies, and translates diverse inputs into clear priorities and practical action. You will bring: MBBS, MD, PhD or relevant Master's Degree in Pharmacy or Life Sciences 6+ years of experience in Medical Affairs, preferably in a global or regional pharmaceutical, biotechnology or healthcare environment Demonstrated experience in medical strategy, insights generation, stakeholder engagement, evidence synthesis or Medical Affairs operations Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical product lifecycle and the role of Medical Affairs, with experience developing governance, processes, capabilities, dashboards or operating models Familiarity with insights-management platforms, analytics, data visualisation or structured knowledge-management approaches Excellent communication, facilitation, synthesis and strategic storytelling skills, with the ability to influence and align stakeholders across a complex matrix environment High level of scientific judgement, business awareness, adaptability and accountability Fluency in written and spoken English Working at Novo Nordisk Every day we seek the solutions that defeat serious chronic diseases.
