Job Description Mechanical Design Engineer (Semiconductor / Equipment Design) Role Summary We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer with 2.55 years of experience in product design and electromechanical system development, preferably in the semiconductor or special-purpose equipment domain. The role involves end-to-end ownership of product design, including concept development, detailed engineering, validation, and support for manufacturing, ensuring high-quality, cost-effective, and manufacturable solutions. Job Details • Location: Bangalore & Chennai • Experience: 2.55 years • Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (Masters preferred) Key Responsibilities 1. Design & Development • Design and develop mechanical and electromechanical systems for advanced equipment. • Perform concept design, 3D modeling, and 2D detailing using CAD tools. • Develop and manage complex assemblies and configurations. • Create manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and part lists • Apply GD&T principles, tolerance stack-up, and worst-case analysis • Update and manage drawings with revision control and change logs. 2. Manufacturing & Product Realization • Ensure Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA). • Work with processes such as machining, sheet metal, welding, injection molding, and additive manufacturing. • Ensure feasibility, manufacturability, and cost optimization. • Support prototyping, testing, validation, and failure/root cause analysis 3. Engineering Change & Lifecycle Management • Manage Engineering Change Orders (ECO/ECN) and lifecycle processes • Update BOMs and drawings with proper revision control • Submit and track design updates for stakeholder review and approval. 4. System Integration & Collaboration • Integrate mechanical design with electrical components (wiring, sensors, actuators • Work closely with cross-functional teams (electrical, software, manufacturing, supply chain). • Participate in customer discussions and technical reviews. 5. Documentation & Compliance • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, assembly instructions, and test procedures. • Ensure compliance with industry standards (SEMI, EMI/EMC, cleanroom practices). Required Skills & Competencies Technical Skills • Strong expertise in: • Mechanical design & product development • 2D/3D CAD modeling and detailing • GD&T and tolerance analysis • BOM management and drawing standards • Large assembly handling • Good understanding of: • Manufacturing processes and welding • Materials and surface finishing • Special Purpose Machines (SPM) / machine design (preferred) Tools & Technologies • CAD: SolidWorks / Creo • PLM/PDM: Windchill / Enovia / Teamcenter / Arena / ECTR / SAP • Others: MS Office tools Preferred Skills • Experience in semiconductor equipment domain • Exposure to simulation (thermal, vibration, structural) • Knowledge of optical systems, cleanliness standards, or routing (harness/tubes) Behavioral Competencies • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Effective communication and collaboration • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines • Detail-oriented with a solution-driven mindset Additional Expectations • Willingness to travel based on project needs • Ability to interact with clients and stakeholders effectively
