You’ll be in good company among our global community of experts leading the future of mainframe modernization. Experts who share knowledge openly and collaborate freely. In this role, you’ll design, build and maintain the high-volume business logic that runs on the mainframe. At the same time you’ll play a key role in refactoring legacy code to enable modern cloud and mobile applications to seamlessly interact with the mainframe’s core data. What you will do Manages Liberty runtime configuration and tuning Handles JVM settings, certs, keystore/truststore, and security configs Supports OAuth/SSO and application runtime hardening Resolves WAS/Liberty‑specific migration issues **Middleware Administration** - Install, configure, administer, and maintain IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS) and WebSphere Liberty environments. - Perform server provisioning, patching, upgrades, and configuration management across development, test, and production environments. - Manage application deployments and environment configurations while ensuring platform stability and availability. **Application Support & Operations** - Provide L2/L3 support for business-critical applications hosted on WebSphere and Liberty. - Troubleshoot application, middleware, and infrastructure-related issues using logs, thread dumps, heap dumps, and diagnostic tools. - Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective and preventive actions. **Performance & Capacity Management** - Monitor application server health, performance, and capacity utilization. - Tune JVM parameters, thread pools, JDBC connection pools, and server configurations to optimize performance. - Collaborate with development teams to resolve performance bottlenecks and improve application efficiency. **WebSphere Liberty Modernization** - Support migration initiatives from Traditional WebSphere Application Server to WebSphere Liberty. - Configure and support Java EE/Jakarta EE, MicroProfile, and Spring-based applications running on Liberty. - Assist in modernization efforts involving containerization and cloud-native deployments. **DevOps & Automation** - Support CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes. - Develop automation scripts using Shell, Python, or Ansible. - Work with container platforms such as OpenShift, Kubernetes, and Docker to deploy and manage Liberty workloads. **Security & Compliance** - Configure SSL certificates, LDAP integration, authentication mechanisms, and access controls. - Implement security best practices and remediation activities. - Participate in vulnerability assessments, audits, and compliance reviews. - Ensure Liberty server configurations align with security and operational standards. **Documentation & Collaboration** - Create and maintain operational runbooks, support documentation, and technical procedures. - Collaborate with application development, infrastructure, database, and cloud teams. Participate in change, incident, problem, and release management processes. **Who You Are** Required skills and experience - IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS) - WebSphere Liberty / Open Liberty - Java, Java EE / Jakarta EE - Linux / Unix Administration - JVM Performance Tuning - SSL, LDAP, SSO Authentication - Jenkins, Git, Maven, Gradle - Shell Scripting or Python - Incident Management and Production Support Preferred skills and experience - OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker - Spring Boot and MicroProfile - Monitoring Tools (Splunk, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, ELK, Grafana, Prometheus) - Infrastructure Automation using Ansible - Cloud Platforms (AWS, Azure, or IBM Cloud) Experience with enterprise application modernization initiatives **Being You** The “Kyn” in Kyndryl means kinship, which represents the strong bonds we have with each other, our customers and our communities.
