Job Title Cardiac Anaesthesiologist / Consultant – Cardiac Anaesthesia Department Cardiac Anaesthesia Location Max Super Speciality Hospital, Shalimar Bagh, New Delhi Reporting To Head – Cardiac Anaesthesia / HOD Cardiac Sciences Job Summary The Cardiac Anaesthesiologist is responsible for providing comprehensive anaesthesia care for patients undergoing cardiac, thoracic, and major vascular surgeries. The role involves pre-operative assessment, intra-operative anaesthetic management, post-operative critical care, transesophageal echocardiography (TEE), pain management, and emergency response while ensuring patient safety and adherence to clinical protocols. Key Responsibilities • Conduct comprehensive pre-anaesthetic evaluations and risk assessments for cardiac surgery patients. • Plan and administer anaesthesia for adult and pediatric cardiac surgical procedures. • Manage anaesthesia during CABG, valve replacement/repair, congenital heart surgeries, aortic surgeries, and minimally invasive cardiac procedures. • Perform advanced airway management and vascular access techniques. • Monitor patients using invasive haemodynamic monitoring and advanced cardiac monitoring systems. • Perform and interpret Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE), where credentialed. • Manage cardiopulmonary bypass-related anaesthetic care in coordination with perfusionists and cardiac surgeons. • Provide perioperative pain management and optimize patient recovery. • Manage critically ill cardiac patients in the Cardiac ICU, including ventilator management and haemodynamic stabilization. • Respond promptly to emergency cardiac surgeries and code blue situations. • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and comply with NABH, infection control, and patient safety protocols. • Participate in departmental audits, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing medical education (CME). • Supervise and mentor junior doctors, residents, and anaesthesia technicians. Qualifications • MD/DNB Anaesthesiology or equivalent postgraduate qualification. • Fellowship/DM/FNB in Cardiac Anaesthesia (preferred). • Valid NMC/State Medical Council registration. Experience • Associate Consultant: 5–7 years post-MD/DNB. • Consultant: 8–10 years of experience in Cardiac Anaesthesia. • Experience in tertiary care or superspecialty hospitals is preferred. Required Skills • Expertise in cardiac anaesthesia techniques. • Proficiency in invasive haemodynamic monitoring. • Knowledge of cardiopulmonary bypass management. • Airway management and resuscitation skills. • Experience in Cardiac ICU management. • TEE certification/experience (preferred). • Strong clinical decision-making and problem-solving skills. • Effective communication and teamwork. • Ability to work efficiently in emergency and high-pressure situations.
