Job description

**Role & responsibilities** **Credit Underwriting (Mid Market)** **Application Assessment:** Review and evaluate loan applications from mid-market corporate clients, including detailed analysis of financial statements, business models, management profiles, industry positioning, and historical credit behaviour. **Financial Analysis:** Conduct comprehensive analysis of audited and provisional financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement) to assess sustainability of operations, leverage, liquidity, and repayment capacity. Analyze cash-flow based repayment ability, working capital cycles, and sensitivity to business and economic risks. Evaluate key financial ratios (liquidity, profitability, Leverage, coverage ratios) in line with internal credit policy and mid-market underwriting benchmarks. **Risk Evaluation:** Assess credit risk across various mid-market lending products including term loans, working capital facilities, revolving credit lines, and structured facilities. Identify and evaluate industry-specific risks, borrower concentration risks, group exposures, cyclicality, regulatory risks, and macro-economic factors impacting the borrowers ability to service debt. **Credit Scoring:** Apply internal credit rating models, scorecards, and risk assessment tools relevant for mid-market corporate borrowers to determine credit quality and risk grade. **Decision Making:** Prepare well-reasoned credit appraisal notes with clear risk assessment, mitigants, and justification for approvals, modifications, or rejections. Recommend appropriate credit structures, limits, pricing, covenants, security coverage, and repayment terms in line with underwriting standards and risk appetite. **Documentation and Compliance:** Ensure completeness, accuracy, and adequacy of credit documentation including financials, KYC, security, legal, and compliance documents as per internal policy and regulatory guidelines. Ensure adherence to internal credit policies, delegation of authority, and regulatory requirements throughout the underwriting process. **Client Interaction:** Interact with clients, relationship managers, and other stakeholders to obtain clarifications, additional information, and address underwriting queries. Communicate credit decisions, conditions, and rationale clearly to relationship teams to facilitate effective client engagement and execution. **Monitoring and Review:** Track performance of sanctioned accounts through periodic monitoring of financial performance, covenant compliance, and early warning indicators. Conduct regular reviews of existing facilities to assess ongoing creditworthiness, emerging risks, and need for corrective actions. **Collaboration with Stakeholders:** Work closely with relationship management, credit risk, legal, operations, and risk teams to ensure robust underwriting and timely decision-making. Participate in credit committee discussions, providing clear articulation of risks, mitigants, and recommendations. **Market Research:** Continuously track industry trends, sector-specific developments, regulatory changes, and macro-economic indicators relevant to mid-market borrowers. **Account Management** Maintain and update credit files ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely availability of all relevant information. Monitor sanctioned limits, terms, and exposure levels, and recommend revisions based on performance and risk profile. **Preparation of Quarterly Review Reports** Prepare detailed periodic review and monitoring notes highlighting financial performance, compliance status, emerging risks, and action points. Identify and address issues relating to credit terms, payment delays, covenant breaches, and operational concerns. Detect early warning signals and initiate timely risk mitigation measures. **Review & Renewals** Periodic review of client documentation, financials, and security coverage. Manage annual renewal of credit facilities with updated financials, compliance documents, and risk assessment notes. **Market Intelligence** Monitor industry and economic trends impacting mid-market borrowers and credit risk. Conduct competitor analysis to benchmark credit practices, structures, and risk appetite. Gather and analyze data from financial statements, industry reports, rating agency publications, and market sources. Identify trends and stress indicators that may affect borrower performance and portfolio quality. Use market intelligence inputs to support credit risk forecasting and underwriting decisions.
