This role is one of the subject matter experts in a global engineering team, and is focused on microgrid controls and electrical SCADA, supporting the development of Honeywell’s BESS, Power Management System (PMS), Green Hydrogen, Giga Factory business in all the Regions/ Poles such as America’s, APAC, EMEA & India. This role guides and mentors project and technology teams on microgrids, microgrid controls and energy management systems including energy storage systems and solutions. The BESS Solution Leader is responsible for benchmarking and evaluating new technologies or new offerings from suppliers to integrate into our solutions. YOU MUST HAVE: • +15 years of related technical experience, particularly in the delivery of electrical projects such as battery energy storage project, PMS, microgrids and microgrid controls applications. • +5 additional years of experience as a technical or business development lead, responsible for the delivery of electrical projects such as battery energy storage project, PMS, microgrids and microgrid controls applications. • +5 years of Engineering Lead/LE experience working with & leading backoffice engineering teams for Global project execution in ECS, PMS, SAS, BESS, GH2 projects • Experience leading technical teams or people management is mandatory. Electrical domain knowledge - Load-Shedding, Load-Sharing, Active/Reactive Power Control, Load Inhibit, Economic Drawl, Maximum Demand, Spinning Reserve etc., WE VALUE: • B.E. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent • Experience as a technical or business development lead, responsible for the delivery of BESS and microgrid controls projects. • Experience and solid understanding of how battery energy storage projects are designed and delivered, including how site technical issues are resolved. • Should be a conceptualizer of enterprise and market trends / issues who can then integrate that thinking into technical solutions. Decisive and logical in thoroughly evaluating issues. Excellent planning, execution, and engineering management skills • Confident, result oriented and mature person with the ability to connect with internal and external stakeholders/teams. • Shall maintain Highest level of professional integrity and honesty as well as personal credibility • Solid understanding of Inverters and DC converters as part of BESS projects, including a strong understanding of inverter controls, fast response, ride-thru, PQ curves, AVR, and operational standards. • Solid understanding of single-line drawings and equipment specifications (including transformers, MCC, switchgear, substation equipment), system studies and protective relay settings as applicable to behind the meter and front of the meter renewable projects. • Comprehensive understanding, interpretation, and application of industry standards and grid codes for electrical power systems, as required by customer location, such as Canadian Electrical Code, National Electrical Code and other applicable electrical codes. • Solid understanding of power engineering modeling software ETAP or SKM. • Solid understand of modelling in Excel, Homer and/or Matlab and simulation result interpretation. • Experience and solid understanding of microgrids, renewable energy integration and battery energy storage systems & microgrid controls, energy management systems, and electrical SCADA applications. • Knowledge of various control schemes (frequency, voltage, VARS, ride-through, etc.), protection schemes, and regulatory requirements pertaining to grid operations. • Knowledge of applicable renewable and electrical codes and standards such as IEEE, 1547, NERC-CIP requirements, IEC61850, Sunspec, MESA standards, and LGIA requirements. • Working knowledge of utility industry communications protocols (e.g., Modbus, DNP3, IEC61580); SEL RTAC programming experience a plus. • Experience troubleshooting microgrid control systems that are not functioning properly. • Experience with grid simulation studies and test software to ensure microgrid controls solutions meet customer requirements. • Capable of programming using function blocks, SQL, Visual Basic, C, C++, C#, or equivalent. • Solid understanding of energy markets and the various use cases for energy storage, for both behind the meter and front of the meter. • Experience reviewing customer and engineering design requirements and responding to requests for proposals by developing project scope documents, technical reports, cost estimates, and proposal documentation. • Customer focused and collaborative team member who can adapt to a rapidly changing market. • Self-motivated, eager to learn, and able to function effectively with minimum support, consistently taking the initiative to get things done. • Ability to work closely with and influence cross-functional teams in a diverse, global, and multicultural environment. • Ability to make timely decisions even in the face of complexity and ambiguity, balancing systematic analysis with decisiveness. • Effective written and verbal communication skills; excellent presentation skills. • Solid understanding of cybersecurity and NERC-CIP operations requirements, or regional equivalent. • Experience of reviewing customer and engineering services requirements and responding to requests for technical proposals by developing engineering scope documents, technical reports, engineering cost estimates, and proposal documentation. • Leadership, teambuilding, and mentoring skills; effectively communicate instructions while leading the team to meet their goals. • Experience in hiring and supervising staff, managing, and driving performance management process. • Able to work under and meet tight deadlines. Key Responsibilities: • Responsible for supervision of global BESS Engineering delivery team, Power Management System (PMS), Green Hydrogen, Giga Factory Engineering, and associated workforce planning. • Assemble high performance teams and drive ongoing improvemen
