Heat Treatment Manager

Job description

Role & responsibilities • Plan, schedule, and oversee all heat treatment operations (normalizing, quenching, tempering, annealing, stress relieving, etc.) for forged components. • Ensure metallurgical properties (hardness, toughness, grain structure) meet customer and industry standards. • Manage furnace operations, including calibration, temperature uniformity surveys, and preventive maintenance. • Collaborate with forging, machining, and quality teams to ensure seamless workflow and adherence to delivery timelines. • Develop and implement heat treatment process sheets and SOPs for different grades of steel and alloys. • Monitor and control process parameters to ensure repeatability and consistency. • Supervise metallurgical testing (hardness, microstructure, ultrasonic, mechanical properties) and validate results. • Ensure compliance with statutory, safety, and environmental regulations. • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in energy efficiency, cycle time reduction, and cost optimization. • Train and develop heat treatment shop personnel in process control and safety practices. Liaise with customers and auditors for technical discussions, approvals, and certifications.
