Job description Role: Lead AI Scientist (VP) Location: Bangalore (HO) | Experience: 10–15 Years | Industry: Banking / Financial Services Role Summary: Ujjivan Small Finance Bank is looking for a Lead AI Scientist to drive our AI/ML strategy. You will lead a high-performing team of scientists and engineers to build, deploy, and govern cutting-edge AI solutions—including Generative AI and advanced predictive models—to enhance business intelligence and financial inclusion for over 8 million customers. Key Responsibilities: • Strategy & Leadership: Define the AI/ML roadmap and lead a team of 5-8 AI Scientists/ML Engineers. • Advanced Modeling: Research and deploy end-to-end models for credit scoring, early warning systems, churn prediction, and recommendation engines. • Generative AI: Lead the development of GenAI solutions (LLMs, RAG pipelines) for internal productivity and customer-facing apps. • MLOps & Governance: Establish robust MDLC/MLOps pipelines. Ensure all models comply with RBI FREE-AI principles and DPDP Act guidelines. • Explainable AI (XAI): Implement fairness and bias detection frameworks (SHAP/LIME) to ensure model transparency for regulators. • Innovation: Lead applied research in Transformers, Graph Neural Networks, and Causal AI. What We’re Looking For: • Education: Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, or a quantitative field. • Experience: 10–15 years in AI/ML research/deployment, with at least 3 years in Banking/FinTech. • Technical Stack: • Expert Python skills; Deep Learning (TensorFlow, PyTorch). • GenAI (BERT, GPT, LLaMA) and RAG development. • MLOps tools (MLflow, SageMaker, Airflow, or Kubeflow). • Distributed computing (Spark/Dask) and Cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure). • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with RBI guidelines on AI and model risk management.
