**Job description** **Role: Lead AI Scientist (VP)** **Location:** Bangalore (HO) | **Experience:** 10–15 Years | **Industry:** Banking / Financial Services **Role Summary:** Ujjivan Small Finance Bank is looking for a **Lead AI Scientist** to drive our AI/ML strategy. You will lead a high-performing team of scientists and engineers to build, deploy, and govern cutting-edge AI solutions—including Generative AI and advanced predictive models—to enhance business intelligence and financial inclusion for over 8 million customers. **Key Responsibilities:** - **Strategy & Leadership:** Define the AI/ML roadmap and lead a team of 5-8 AI Scientists/ML Engineers. - **Advanced Modeling:** Research and deploy end-to-end models for credit scoring, early warning systems, churn prediction, and recommendation engines. - **Generative AI:** Lead the development of GenAI solutions (LLMs, RAG pipelines) for internal productivity and customer-facing apps. - **MLOps & Governance:** Establish robust MDLC/MLOps pipelines. Ensure all models comply with **RBI FREE-AI** principles and DPDP Act guidelines. - **Explainable AI (XAI):** Implement fairness and bias detection frameworks (SHAP/LIME) to ensure model transparency for regulators. - **Innovation:** Lead applied research in Transformers, Graph Neural Networks, and Causal AI. **What We’re Looking For:** - **Education:** Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, or a quantitative field. - **Experience:** 10–15 years in AI/ML research/deployment, with **at least 3 years in Banking/FinTech.** - **Technical Stack:** - Expert Python skills; Deep Learning (TensorFlow, PyTorch). - GenAI (BERT, GPT, LLaMA) and RAG development. - MLOps tools (MLflow, SageMaker, Airflow, or Kubeflow). - Distributed computing (Spark/Dask) and Cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure). - **Regulatory Knowledge:** Familiarity with RBI guidelines on AI and model risk management.
