About The Role Position Title: Legal Operations – Technology Manager Corporate Title: Assistant Vice President Internal Title: Manager Reporting to: Vice President/ Director Location: Bangalore, BCIT park, Thannisandra Main Road Shift toimings: EMEA Shifts MUFG Legal department in EMEA The Legal department in Europe, Middle East and Africa (together, “ EMEA ”) provides legal services to and manages the legal risk for MUFG Bank and MUFG Securities (EMEA) and the MUSHD international business (collectively the “ Firm ”). Members of Legal are dual-hatted across MUFG Bank and MUFG Securities. Dual-hat employees will be expected to be entity neutral across all responsibilities to ensure that services are provided to both entities effective and without favour or detriment to the other entity. MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE MUFG’s Legal department globally has a business plan priority to grow the global corporate centre legal team in India. The MGS Legal team currently supports the EMEA, APAC and Americas regions with hiring currently led through the EMEA region. We have an exciting opportunity for a manager to join the MGS Legal Operations team to support with managing our legal technology platforms and related vendor relationships. We are looking for candidates who are proactive and organised with existing experience of implementing and managing technology. From time to time, MUFG may ask individuals to develop new areas of practice either where this is required to meet business needs and/or as part of an individual’s career progression. Key Responsibilities In this role, the successful candidate will be providing services which cover MUFG’s banking arm and securities business under a dual-hat arrangement. Under this arrangement, the employee will act and make decisions on behalf of both the bank and the securities business, subject to the same remit and level of authority, and irrespective of the entity which employs them. Key Responsibilities Technology platform implementation, management and adoption • Responsible for the administration of the legal technology stack (Leah AI, various apps built on Power Platform (Legal Matter Management, Policy Approvals, Legal Spend Management), Legal Holds, Lyncs, BriefAI etc) working closely with relevant Technology teams including: • administer and configure, where required, workspaces, libraries, folder structures, and access controls • manage user provisioning, group policies, roles and permissioning line with security and governance standards • support troubleshooting and co-ordinate with relevant Technology teams and outside vendors to ensure that service support is delivered effectively and in a timely manner • understand and co-ordinate any version upgrades, service updates and patches • manage the renewal and lifecycle of legal tools ensuring cost-effectiveness and feature alignment • Responsible to support the use of technology for knowledge sharing including Legal’s intranet pages (on KIZUNA), Teams spaces, use of shared drives – create and maintain pages, support de-duplication and standardisation efforts of each team, support sharing of key knowledge with the business • Responsible to understand technologies available in the wider organisation and in the market that can be used to drive the Legal Department’s strategy and objectives e.g. enterprise agentic AI tools etc – this role will bring together the technical capabilities of tools available and the Legal Department’s needs and will influence the technology roadmap of the department • Responsible to build no-code / low-code applications, workflows, agents for use by the Legal Department using enterprise technology stack (e.g. Power Platform, Azure AI etc) • Act as key subject matter expert for use of the legal technology stack to include: • how the platform is set up, use cases and functionality • accountability for developing, updating and maintaining guidance documents for users • accountability for training users within Legal who need to interact with the platform • accountability for creating, collating and maintaining training resources for users • act as a key contact with regard to the various platforms • Support the business case and onboarding of new technology including: • working with the implementation project teams to provide relevant information required for a new technology project • input as to requirements from a business as usual perspective • work closely to transition new technology into business as usual management • accountable to manage rollout to the wider team, upskilling and adoption • Support the ambition of the Legal Department to be “AI native” including: • champion greater adoption and usage of legal technology and other enterprise technology • understand the use of technology and AI in the legal and financial services sector – stay at the cutting edge of developments • accountable for the arrangement of regular knowledge sharing sessions and presentations from different teams about their use of technology / AI and use cases
