Role Purpose The Chief Medical Services will provide strategic and clinical leadership across the organization, ensuring high standards of patient care, clinical quality, patient safety, medical governance, and regulatory compliance. The role will be responsible for establishing and strengthening clinical systems, policies, protocols, and quality standards while working closely with senior leadership, medical professionals, hospital/unit leadership, and corporate functions to drive clinical excellence and operational effectiveness. 2. Key Responsibilities A. Medical & Clinical Leadership • Provide strategic leadership and direction for medical and clinical services across the organization. • Establish and maintain high standards of clinical care, patient safety, and medical ethics. • Develop, implement, and monitor clinical policies, protocols, guidelines, and standard operating procedures. • Ensure adherence to evidence-based medical practices and established clinical standards. • Guide clinical teams in improving patient outcomes and overall quality of care. • Promote a culture of clinical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement. B. Medical Governance • Establish and strengthen the medical governance framework across the organization. • Chair or participate in key medical, clinical quality, patient safety, and ethics committees. • Review clinical performance indicators, adverse events, mortality/morbidity trends, clinical outcomes, and patient safety metrics. • Ensure appropriate clinical documentation, reporting, and governance mechanisms are in place. • Provide expert guidance on complex clinical and medical matters. C. Quality & Patient Safety • Drive organization-wide initiatives related to clinical quality and patient safety. • Ensure compliance with applicable healthcare standards, accreditation requirements, and regulatory guidelines. • Monitor clinical audits and ensure timely implementation of corrective and preventive actions. • Identify clinical risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures. • Promote infection prevention and control, medication safety, and other patient safety initiatives. D. Clinical Performance & Improvement • Establish appropriate clinical KPIs and performance benchmarks. • Review clinical performance across units/departments and identify improvement opportunities. • Lead initiatives to improve patient outcomes, clinical efficiency, and quality of care. • Use clinical data and analytics to support decision-making and continuous improvement. • Benchmark clinical practices against leading healthcare organizations. E. Medical Talent & Capability Building • Support the recruitment, onboarding, development, and retention of medical and clinical talent. • Establish competency and credentialing standards for medical professionals. • Work with clinical leaders to identify training and capability-building requirements. • Promote continuous medical education and professional development. • Encourage knowledge sharing and best-practice adoption across clinical teams. F. Stakeholder Management • Collaborate closely with the CEO, COO, business/unit heads, medical leadership, nursing leadership, and corporate functions. • Engage with consultants, senior clinicians, professional bodies, and external healthcare stakeholders. • Represent the organization in relevant medical forums, conferences, and professional platforms. • Build strong relationships with key clinical and medical stakeholders. G. Regulatory & Compliance • Ensure compliance with applicable healthcare laws, regulations, ethical standards, and accreditation requirements. • Support regulatory inspections, audits, and accreditation processes. • Ensure appropriate medical records, clinical documentation, and reporting mechanisms are maintained. • Advise leadership on emerging regulatory and clinical requirements. H. Strategic Initiatives • Contribute to the development and execution of the organization's overall medical and clinical strategy. • Identify opportunities for new clinical services, specialties, programs, and partnerships. • Support clinical integration and standardization across business units. • Lead organization-wide medical transformation and clinical excellence initiatives. • Evaluate emerging healthcare technologies, medical innovations, and best practices for potential adoption. 3. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) • Clinical quality and patient safety indicators • Patient outcome and experience metrics • Clinical audit compliance • Reduction in adverse clinical events • Compliance with medical and regulatory standards • Physician/clinical staff engagement and retention • Implementation of clinical protocols and SOPs • Clinical productivity and efficiency • Accreditation and quality scores • Successful implementation of clinical improvement initiatives 4. Education & Qualifications • MBBS is mandatory. • Postgraduate qualification in Medicine / Surgery or an appropriate medical specialty is preferred. • Additional qualifications in Healthcare Management / Hospital Administration / Public Health will be an advantage. • Valid medical registration with the relevant medical council. 5. Experience • 15–20+ years of overall experience in healthcare/clinical services. • Significant experience in senior medical leadership roles within hospitals, healthcare groups, or large healthcare organizations. • Strong experience in medical governance, clinical quality, patient safety, and healthcare operations. • Experience managing senior clinicians and multidisciplinary clinical teams. • Experience in accreditation, regulatory compliance, and clinical transformation initiatives is preferred. 6.
