Job Title: Senior Mainframe (MF) Information Management System (IMS) Technician Category: Mainframe (MF) Information Management System (IMS) Location: Bengaluru Employment Type: Full Time Position ID: J0626-2081 Experience Required: 5–10+ Years **Job Summary** We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Mainframe (MF) Information Management System (IMS) Technician to join our Infrastructure and Middleware Services team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the administration, monitoring, support, maintenance, and optimization of IBM IMS environments running on IBM z/OS Mainframe platforms. This role requires strong technical expertise in IMS Database (IMS DB) and IMS Transaction Manager (IMS TM), along with a proven ability to support mission critical enterprise applications in a complex production environment. The candidate will play a key role in ensuring system stability, availability, performance, and compliance while collaborating with application, infrastructure, database, and operations teams. IMS Administration and Support - Administer, maintain, and support IBM IMS DB and IMS TM environments. - Monitor IMS control regions, message processing regions, databases, transactions, and system performance. - Perform installation, configuration, maintenance, upgrades, and patch implementation activities. - Manage IMS resources, parameters, startup procedures, and operational configurations. Production Support - Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support for production IMS environments. - Investigate and resolve incidents, service requests, and technical issues within defined SLA targets. - Participate in major incident management and provide technical expertise during critical outages. - Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions. Performance Monitoring and Optimization - Monitor system utilization, performance metrics, and transaction throughput. - Analyze performance bottlenecks and implement tuning recommendations. - Support capacity planning activities and ensure optimal resource utilization. - Identify opportunities for automation and operational efficiency improvements. Database Management - Support IMS database backup, recovery, reorganization, and integrity processes. - Coordinate database maintenance activities to ensure availability and performance. - Assist application teams with database related troubleshooting and performance analysis. - Ensure adherence to backup and recovery standards. Change and Release Management - Execute approved changes in accordance with organizational change management processes. - Support application deployments, releases, and infrastructure upgrades impacting IMS environments. - Conduct implementation validation and post change verification activities. - Maintain accurate documentation of all production changes. Security and Compliance - Implement and maintain security controls in accordance with organizational policies. - Support audit reviews and compliance requirements. - Ensure adherence to regulatory, operational, and information security standards. - Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution activities.
