What Youll Bring (Required Qualifications) • 8–12+ years of professional software development experience; 5+ years building Java microservices in production. • Deep expertise in Java 17+, Spring Boot/Spring Cloud, Gradle/Maven, and REST/JSON plus gRPC/Protobuf (nice to have). • Strong experience with Kafka (streams, schema registry/Avro/Protobuf, consumer groups, partitioning, rebalancing) and transactional data patterns (sagas, outbox). • Solid understanding of distributed systems (consistency, CAP, retries vs. idempotency, backpressure, eventual consistency, caching). • Proven track record on Kubernetes and cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP) for production workloads: networking, service mesh (Istio/Linkerd – bonus), secrets, IAM, cost awareness. • Testing discipline: unit, contract (Pact/AssertJ JSON), integration (Testcontainers), E2E, performance (Gatling/JMH), and pipeline automation. • Observability: Open Telemetry/ Micrometer /Prometheus/Grafana/ELK; able to debug with traces and highcardinality logs. • Security: OAuth2/OIDC/JWT, TLS, mTLS, certificate rotation, vulnerability remediation, SAST/DAST familiarity. • Ability to review architectural and vendor deliverables, articulate gaps, and guide towards remediation. • Experience with Vert.x / gRPC. NicetoHave (Preferred) • Knowledge of CQRS/Event Sourcing, Temporal/Cadence (workflow orchestration), or Debezium/CDC. • Data stores: Postgres/MySQL (RDBMS), Redis (caching), MongoDB/Cosmos/DocumentDB (NoSQL), Elasticsearch/OpenSearch (search/analytics). • API gateways and service mesh (rate limiting, circuit breaking, authN/authZ). • Prior work with platform engineering, internal developer platforms, or Backstage.
