Role: SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) Expert - CPG Manufacturing / MES Required Technical Skill Set: Microsoft SQL Server Administration, Performance Tuning, HA/DR, Always On Availability Groups, Backup & Recovery, Security, SSIS/SSRS, PowerShell, MES Database Support and Manufacturing Production Support Desired Experience Range: 10-15 Years Location of Requirement: India Must-Have\\\\ • Minimum 10 years of hands-on Microsoft SQL Server DBA experience, including SQL Server 2016/2019/2022, installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, migrations, backup/recovery and 24x7 production support. • Deep expertise in performance engineering: execution-plan analysis, Query Store, wait statistics, blocking/deadlock analysis, indexing, statistics, partitioning, TempDB, memory/I/O and capacity optimization. • Proven HA/DR experience with Always On Availability Groups, Failover Cluster Instances, log shipping, replication, automated backup validation, failover drills and recovery objectives (RPO/RTO). • Experience supporting MES or manufacturing applications, preferably GE Proficy Plant Applications, AVEVA/Wonderware MES, Rockwell FactoryTalk, SAP MII or equivalent, with understanding of plant-floor data flows and high-volume historian/transaction workloads. • Preferably from Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG/FMCG) manufacturing, with strong incident, problem, change and release management skills and effective customer/stakeholder communication. Good-to-Have • Azure SQL Database/Managed Instance, Azure VM SQL, AWS RDS for SQL Server and hybrid-cloud migration exposure. • SSIS, SSRS, SQL Agent, PowerShell/T-SQL automation, database monitoring tools and DevOps/CI-CD deployment controls. • Knowledge of PLC, SCADA, OPC/OPC UA, historians, edge integration and manufacturing KPIs such as OEE, downtime, throughput, yield, quality and genealogy/traceability. • Microsoft SQL certifications, ITIL certification or experience in regulated/audited manufacturing environments. Responsibility of / Expectations from the Role • Own administration and operational health of SQL Server databases supporting business-critical MES and manufacturing applications across development, test, UAT and production environments. • Monitor availability, performance, capacity and database jobs; proactively identify bottlenecks and execute preventive actions before plant operations are impacted. • Perform advanced troubleshooting using execution plans, Query Store, DMVs, Extended Events, wait statistics, blocking/deadlock graphs and infrastructure metrics; deliver clear RCA and corrective/preventive actions. • Design, operate and test HA/DR solutions, backup and restore strategies, failover procedures and recovery runbooks aligned with agreed RPO/RTO and business continuity requirements. • Plan and execute database installation, configuration, cumulative updates, security patches, version upgrades, migrations, consolidation and environment refreshes with controlled rollback plans. • Optimize MES workloads, interfaces, stored procedures, reporting queries, indexes and data-retention/archival strategies for high-volume production, downtime, quality and traceability data. • Implement database security, access controls, service accounts, encryption, auditing, vulnerability remediation and compliance evidence in line with enterprise standards. • Partner with MES, application, infrastructure, network, cloud, cybersecurity and plant teams during incidents, releases, deployments, cutovers and manufacturing-site onboarding. • Automate repeatable DBA activities using T-SQL, PowerShell and approved monitoring/orchestration tools; maintain dashboards, alerts, operational SOPs and knowledge articles. • Provide technical leadership, review database designs and deployment scripts, mentor junior DBAs, improve support maturity and communicate risks, status and recommendations to customer stakeholders.
