Job Title : Technical Lead Role summary Lead end-to-end technical delivery, owning architecture, implementation, quality and delivery for fleet- and vessel-level solutions. Combine maritime domain awareness with hands-on full‑stack engineering leadership across React, Python, AWS, Snowflake and Kafka to deliver Key responsibilities • Architecture & technical ownership: Define and evolve platform architecture (frontend, backend, data pipelines, model hosting, edge/ship gateway patterns, CI/CD). • Hands-on delivery: Lead development of React front-end, Python services, streaming and batch data pipelines, and Snowflake analytics; deploy and operate on AWS. • Telemetry ingestion & data engineering: Design robust ingestion, transformation and storage patterns; ensure schema, units, timestamps and provenance are correct. • Real-time processing: Implement and optimise Kafka-based streaming for near-real-time alerts, model feeds and event-driven workflows. • Model operationalisation: Collaborate with SMEs and data scientists to productionise physics and ML models (serving, versioning, monitoring, drift detection). • Frontend UX & visualization: Guide React UI development for dashboards, interactive visualisations and operator workflows; ensure performance and responsiveness. • Data platform & analytics: Design Snowflake schemas, secure access patterns, materialized views and analytics jobs for KPIs and historical analysis. • Reliability & security: Implement observability, alerting, retries, backpressure handling, encryption, secrets management and RBAC. • Testing & quality: Enforce automated testing (unit, integration, contract, E2E); manage staging, canary releases and production smoke checks. • Team leadership: Lead, mentor and grow frontend, backend and data engineers; run code and design reviews and promote best practices. • Stakeholder collaboration: Translate domain requirements into technical acceptance criteria and coordinate with Product, SMEs, DevOps and QA. • Delivery & planning: Drive sprint planning, roadmaps, release gates and balance technical debt with feature velocity. Required qualifications • 9+ years software engineering experience with at least 3 years in technical leadership roles delivering complex cloud-native systems. • Strong React expertise (component design, state management, testing, performance). • Proficient in Python for backend and model integration (FastAPI/Flask); experience with containerised deployments. • Hands-on AWS experience (EKS/Lambda/EC2/S3/IAM/CloudWatch or equivalents). • Practical/understanding experience with Kafka (topics, partitions, consumer groups) and building streaming pipelines. • Strong Snowflake or data-warehouse experience (schema design, performance tuning).( preferred ) • Deep understanding of time-series processing, ETL/ELT patterns and telemetry semantics. • Familiarity with CI/CD, IaC (Terraform/CloudFormation) and observability stacks. • Excellent communication skills and ability to translate domain needs into technical deliverables. • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience. Preferred skills • Experience in maritime, shipping, offshore or industrial IIoT/digital twin projects. • Familiarity with time-series databases (InfluxDB/Timescale), model-serving platforms (SageMaker/Triton), and stream processors (Flink/Kafka Streams). • Knowledge of naval concepts and common ship telemetry (shaft torque, speed logs, draft, IMU). • Experience with Snowflake features like Snowpipe, tasks, streams and row-access policies. • Security/compliance knowledge relevant to maritime or critical infrastructure.
