Classification : Internal Job Title: Appian Developer (medior +) Department: Platform **About Business Line/Function** The position belongs to our Development Team, a shared‑services hub that supplies technical capabilities to the product‑focused Scrum squads across the organization. We are part of RETO Shared Services Center (SSC), ensuring each product development follows common rules and agile practice in line with security standard and following architecture guidelines. **Position Purpose** The role will be the primary technical contributor of the SEED project’s low-code BPM platform. Reporting to the Chapter Lead, the role is responsible for designing, building, testing, and maintaining business-process applications on the Appian platform. The developer will work inside an Agile squad together with a Product Owner, Scrum Master, Architecture, Business Analyst, QA/Test Engineer and will interface regularly with 24 × 7 support, Release Management and other downstream teams. The incumbent will also lead initiatives that require cross-team coordination, ensuring that the SEED solution remains robust, scalable, and aligned with the organization’s digital-transformation goals. **Responsibilities** Direct Responsibilities - Design and develop end-to-end Appian solutions (process models, case management, decision rules, interfaces, sites, records, data types) that meet unction and non-functional requirements - Integrate Appian with external systems - Implement security and access-control models (roles, groups, SSO) according to corporate policies and data-privacy regulations - Create maintain automated unit-tests and regression test suits where possible, Execute manual unit testing. - Release activities – prepare deployment packages, closely collaborate with release management and 24/7 support team for execution - Manage all non-prod environments - Maintain relevant documentation - Mentor other team members Contributing Responsibilities - Collaborate with Product Owner, Scrum master, Business analyst, Architecture and other stakeholders to clarify requirements, refine user stories and estimate effort - Active participation in Scrum ceremonies, provide timely updates and inputs for others, bring technical expertise to relevant topics - Work with test engineer to define acceptance criteria, support test data creation, validate end-to-end flow - Be able to support temporarily other team functions like tester, or analyst in specific cases - Contribute knowledge-sharing sessions. - Provide ad-hoc support requested by direct manager or Product Owner ev. Scrum master. Classification : Internal - With 24/7 actively collaborating during any production incident, contribute and prepare fixes Technical & Behavioural Competencies - Low-Code Development master: Deep knowledge of Appian Designer, SAIL, expression language and full Appian lifecycle (design > test > release) - Integration design: Ability to design applications that interact with general services offered by other entities. (Authorization, document interchange and OCR) - BPM & Case Management: Strong grasp of BPMN, case-centric modelling, and rule-engine design. - Performance & Scalability: Skills in profiling Appian applications, identifying bottlenecks, and applying caching, indexing, or architectural tweaks. - DevOps: Experience with Appian Cloud/On‑Prem pipelines, automated builds, and environment promotion strategies. - Collaborative Mindset: Works productively within a cross‑functional Agile squad and builds strong relationships with stakeholders. - Problem‑Solving: Proactively investigates issues, proposes practical solutions, and drives them to closure. - Communication: Translates technical concepts into clear, non‑technical language for business users and senior management. - Ownership & Accountability: Takes end‑to‑end responsibility for the health of the Appian solution, including post‑production support. - Continuous Learning: Keeps up‑to‑date with the latest Appian releases, low‑code trends, and industry best practices. **Specific Qualifications** - Professional Experience: Minimum 3 + years of hands‑on experience developing production‑grade applications on the Appian platform. - Appian Certifications: Appian Certified Associate Developer (ACAD) – required; Appian Certified Senior Developer (ACSD) or Lead Developer (ACLD) – preferred. - Integration Experience: Proven ability to create and maintain integrations, including authentication/authorization handling. - Agile Experience: At least 2 years working in Scrum or Kanban teams; familiarity with JIRA/Confluence or similar tools. - Language Skills: Fluent in English (written and spoken), Spanish and/or Portuguese is a plus - Domain Knowledge (optional): Experience in regulated industries (Banking, Insurance, Healthcare) is a plus. **Technical Skills** Skills Referential (Required knowledge, skills and abilities) - Appian Designer (Process Modeling, Interface Designer, Records, Sites, Decision Rules) - Appian Expression Language & SAIL (UI development) - SQL & relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server) is a plus - Deployment process via Appian Designer Classification : Internal - Basic scripting/programming (Java, JavaScript) for custom plug-ins (preferred) - Monitoring & logging tools (Appian Health Check, Splunk, ELK) - Understanding of security standards (OAuth2, SAML, JWT, GDPR, SOC2) **Behavioural Skills** - Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail - Excellent communication and stakeholder-management abilities - Proactive, self-directed, and comfortable working in a fast-changing environment - Team-player who fosters knowledge sharing and mentorship - Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks simultaneously - Problem solving **Education Level** - Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a closely related field
