Job Summary The Area Sales Manager (ASM) is responsible for achieving sales targets and driving market growth within a designated territory for Becton Dickinson India. This role involves developing and executing sales strategies, managing customer relationships, and leading a team of sales professionals to ensure optimal performance and market penetration of BD's medical technology products. Job Responsibilities • Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve and exceed assigned sales quotas and objectives for the territory. • Manage and lead a team of sales representatives, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback to ensure individual and team success. • Identify and develop new business opportunities within the assigned area, including market mapping, competitive analysis, and customer segmentation. • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships with key opinion leaders, healthcare professionals, and hospital administration. • Conduct regular market visits to understand customer needs, identify challenges, and provide appropriate solutions and product demonstrations. • Collaborate with marketing, product management, and other internal stakeholders to align sales strategies with overall business objectives. • Monitor sales performance, analyze sales data, and prepare accurate sales forecasts and reports for management. • Ensure compliance with all company policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements. • Manage budget allocation and expenses effectively to maximize return on investment. • Participate in industry events, conferences, and exhibitions to promote BD's products and services. Job Qualifications • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Life Sciences, or a related field. An MBA is a plus. • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive sales experience in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry, with at least 3-5 years in a supervisory or managerial role. • Proven track record of consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets. • Strong understanding of the Indian healthcare market, including key customers, competitors, and regulatory landscape. • Excellent leadership, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. • Ability to motivate and develop a high-performing sales team. • Proficiency in CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) and Microsoft Office Suite. • Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory. • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
