Job Description Firmware Testing Engineer Position: Firmware Testing Engineer Department: Research & Development (R&D) Location: R&D Centre, Pune Experience: 1–2 Years Qualification: Diploma / BE in Electronics, Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering Job Purpose We are looking for a Firmware Testing Engineer to validate embedded firmware performance on actual HVAC electronic products. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring functional correctness, control logic accuracy, product reliability and seamless integration between firmware and hardware before product release. Key Responsibilities • Perform functional testing of firmware on actual HVAC electronic hardware such as PCBs, controllers, sensors and actuators. • Validate firmware control logic and algorithms against design specifications. • Design, execute and document test cases and test plans covering functional, boundary and stress testing. • Perform regression testing after firmware updates, bug fixes and new releases. • Identify, reproduce, log and track firmware defects/bugs. • Support root-cause analysis and troubleshooting in coordination with firmware developers. • Perform integration testing between firmware and hardware components such as sensors, relays, compressors, motors, displays and communication modules. • Prepare detailed test reports, defect reports and validation summaries. • Maintain testing equipment, fixtures and testing documentation. • Collaborate closely with Firmware, Hardware and Electrical teams to ensure product reliability. • Follow applicable industry and safety standards such as BIS, UL and CE, along with internal quality requirements. • Contribute towards improving and standardizing test procedures, defect logging and validation processes. Required Technical Skills • Hands-on experience with embedded systems, microcontrollers and firmware testing. • Good understanding of electronic circuits and ability to read circuit schematics. • Hands-on experience with Oscilloscope, Multimeter, Signal Generator and Power Supply. • Understanding of communication protocols such as UART, I2C, SPI, RS485 and Modbus. • Ability to create clear and structured test cases and test reports. • Strong defect identification, troubleshooting and analytical skills. • Basic programming/scripting knowledge in C and Python. • Basic understanding of test automation tools/frameworks. • Knowledge of relevant HVAC electronics safety/compliance standards such as BIS, UL and CE. Preferred Experience • Prior experience in HVAC products such as Air Conditioners, Chillers, Controllers, Thermostats or VRF systems. • Exposure to firmware test automation tools and frameworks. Behavioral Competencies • Strong attention to detail. • Good analytical and problem-solving skills. • Patience and persistence in troubleshooting intermittent issues. • Good communication and teamwork skills. • Ability to work independently. • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis mindset. Working Conditions • Primarily a lab-based, hands-on testing environment. • Occasional travel to factory/site locations may be required. • Testing may involve different environmental and operating conditions.
