Overview We are seeking an experienced Senior Linux Engineer to join our infrastructure and network engineering team, responsible for deploying, implementing, and supporting secure Linux-based platforms within enterprise and data centre environments. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience with Linux operating systems and a strong background in network security, firewall technologies, and infrastructure deployment. This role requires expertise in NixOS , with experience in RHEL , GUIX , or other immutable operating systems. The successful candidate will also have strong knowledge of Linux networking, security zoning, stateful firewalls, and packet filtering technologies such as nftables . Experience with Cilium and Zeek is highly desirable, while exposure to Suricata will be considered an advantage. Responsibilities • Deploy, configure, and support enterprise Linux servers across production and non-production environments. • Implement and manage Linux operating systems, including NixOS, RHEL, GUIX, and other immutable OS platforms. • Deploy and configure Linux-based networking and security services. • Implement Linux firewall solutions using nftables and stateful firewall technologies. • Configure Linux networking, including Layer 2 networking, routing, VLANs, and security zoning. • Support deployment and integration of enterprise firewall platforms, including Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, and Check Point. • Implement and troubleshoot Linux security controls, host hardening, and network segmentation. • Configure and support Cilium for Kubernetes networking and security (where applicable). • Deploy and maintain Suricata IDS/IPS and Zeek network monitoring solutions (preferred). • Perform Linux system upgrades, patching, migrations, and implementation activities. • Troubleshoot operating system, networking, firewall, and security-related issues. • Collaborate with Network, Security, Cloud, and Infrastructure teams during project delivery. • Develop and maintain technical documentation, implementation guides, and operational procedures. • Participate in change management activities and support implementation during maintenance windows. • Ensure Linux environments comply with customer security policies and operational standards. Requirements Mandatory Skills & Experience • Minimum 8 years of hands-on Linux administration and engineering experience. • Strong experience with: • NixOS • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) • GUIX or other immutable Linux operating systems • Strong deployment and implementation experience within enterprise Linux environments. • Experience implementing Linux networking and security solutions. • Strong knowledge of: • Linux Networking • Layer 2 Networking • TCP/IP • VLANs • Security Zoning • Stateful Firewalls • Hands-on experience with nftables. • Experience integrating Linux environments with enterprise firewall platforms, including: • Cisco Firewalls • Fortinet FortiGate • Palo Alto Networks • Check Point • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills. • Experience working in enterprise and data centre environments. • Familiarity with ITIL processes and change management. Preferred Skills • Experience with Cilium for cloud-native networking and security. • Experience deploying or administering Suricata IDS/IPS. • Experience using Zeek for network traffic analysis and security monitoring. • Knowledge of container platforms such as Kubernetes and Docker. • Experience with Linux automation and configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, SaltStack). • Scripting experience using: • Bash • Python • Shell Scripting • Knowledge of SELinux and Linux security hardening. • Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and DevOps practices. • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
