1. **FINANCIAL PLANNING** - Financial planning is one of the key aspects of a strong legal operations function and departmental budget management. The Legal Operations Manager will be responsible for implementing process and system in place to track legal spend, accruals, and budgets in order to identify cost saving opportunities. The Legal Operations Manager will provide periodic reports on how the legal spend is being allocated across matters and utilized including providing assessment on when to invest in outside counsel vs. leverage internal resources. Legal operation Manager will share these reports and communicate legal metrics to General Counsel and facilitate more informed decision making. 2. **REPORTING & ANALYTICS** – The Legal Operations Manager will be responsible for partnering with the General Counsel to develop long-term strategy for the legal department and align the team and resources against these goals. To ensure this, The Legal Operations Manager will be required to track the KPIs of the team with its outcome on periodic basis and highlight those KPI’s which are either not on track, or require revisions, or alignment. 3. **VENDOR MANAGEMENT** Vendors consist of law firms, consultants or specialists that support the work of the in-house team. Legal operations Manager should help create a vendor management program that uses benchmarking metrics to evaluate outside counsel performance against communicated expectations. This will include negotiating fee agreements, regular performance reviews with outside counsel, as well as implementing and enforcing billing guidelines. 4. **TECHNOLOGY ENABLEMENT & ADOPTION –** The Legal Operations Manager will advise the GC and Management on adaption of legal tools and solutions such as e-Billing, matter management, contract management, IP management, electronic signature, legal hold, and more, which can create long-term technology roadmap for the in-house legal division.
