Role Description The Pediatric Registrar role at Apollo Hospitals in Chennai is a full-time, on-site position focused on delivering high-quality care to pediatric and neonatal patients. Day-to-day responsibilities include assessing and managing pediatric cases, conducting clinical examinations, ordering and interpreting investigations, and participating in ward rounds under the supervision of senior consultants. The registrar will assist in neonatal and pediatric procedures, support perioperative care for pediatric surgeries, and contribute to emergency and intensive care services as required. The role also involves maintaining accurate medical records, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and physicians, counseling families, and adhering to hospital protocols and evidence-based clinical guidelines. The pediatric registrar is expected to participate in clinical audits, teaching activities, and continuous professional development. Qualifications • Strong foundation in Medicine and Pediatrics, with the ability to assess, diagnose, and manage a wide range of pediatric conditions. • Competence or training in Neonatology, including care of newborns, high-risk infants, and neonatal intensive care support. • Experience assisting in or coordinating pediatric Surgery cases, including pre-operative and post-operative patient management. • Ability to work effectively with Physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare teams, demonstrating clear communication and collaborative decision-making. • Recognized medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) and relevant postgraduate qualification or training in Pediatrics; valid medical registration with appropriate regulatory body. • Knowledge of current clinical guidelines, infection control practices, and patient safety standards in pediatric and neonatal care. • Strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, and capability to function in fast-paced, high-acuity hospital environments. • Commitment to ethical practice, continuous learning, participation in teaching and clinical research, and compassion in interactions with children and families.
