Driving technology building and implementation is part of this role. The position works closely with the Technology team to co create and implement solutions at group level that will carry the pricing, contracting and commercial governance processes. The position works closely with the General Manager to build the function, with a team added as the mandate scales. The initial period is hands on, and the work carries direct visibility to the CFO office. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Pricing and Tariff Governance • Own the group pricing policy, and maintain version control of tariffs across specialities, service lines and units. • Run the annual tariff revision cycle, including the revision model, cost inflation and case mix scenarios, and recommendations with quantified P&L impact. • Build and maintain the package and procedure rate library, including package costing and floor prices. • Review exception and non standard pricing requests within delegated authority, and escalate with a recommendation. 2. Revenue and Commercial Analytics • Develop the group view of payer economics covering realisation, discounts and net yield by payer, plan, unit and speciality. • Build service line and speciality profitability analytics, including contribution margin, ARPOB, ALOS and case mix. • Identify and quantify revenue leakage across unbilled charges, off policy discounts, tariff mapping errors and claim deductions, and follow through on recovery. • Prepare pricing models and business cases for new services, capacity additions and equipment proposals, along with competitor benchmarking. • Publish the monthly commercial MIS pack for leadership review. 3. Payer and Institutional Commercials • Maintain the central repository and commercial evaluation of insurer, TPA, corporate and government scheme arrangements, covering rates, terms, exclusions and the renewal calendar. • Prepare the commercial case for renewals, including rate benchmarking, volume and margin analysis and deduction history, and participate in negotiations. • Monitor contract performance after signature, covering realisation against contracted rates, deduction and denial trends, pre authorisation turnaround and receivable ageing. • Standardise commercial terms across the network in coordination with Legal. 4. Technology, Systems and Master Data • Drive the building and implementation of technology solutions for the function, working with the Technology team from design through to rollout at group level. • Co create the solution by translating commercial and governance requirements into system requirements, and remain the finance owner through build, testing and go live. • Ensure pricing, contracting and commercial governance processes are carried on system rather than run outside it, including the necessary integration with HIS, ERP and billing. • Define and maintain the commercial master data standard for service, tariff, payer and package masters, along with the change control process. • Drive adoption across units, and automate recurring analytics and reporting in Power BI or an equivalent tool. CANDIDATE PROFILE Qualification and experience • Chartered Accountant or Cost Accountant. MBA in Finance preferred. • 5 to 8 years of post qualification experience in corporate or commercial finance, FP&A, business finance, pricing or revenue management. • Hands on experience in one or more of pricing, contracting, profitability analysis or revenue assurance, with scope that has grown over time. Candidates who have supported these areas and are ready to take ownership will be considered. • Experience of working with technology teams to build or implement a system, including defining requirements and testing. • Experience in multi location or multi entity organisations is an advantage. Healthcare, diagnostics or insurance and TPA sector experience is preferred but not essential. Technical skills • Advanced Excel and financial modelling. This is the core requirement. • Exposure to Power BI or an equivalent business intelligence tool, and to SAP or Oracle ERP. Familiarity with hospital information systems and the hospital revenue cycle is an advantage. • Working understanding of data structures, master data management and system workflows. Competencies • Willingness to set up processes and controls where practice is not yet standardised. • Ability to translate a commercial requirement into a system requirement and see it through with a technology team. • Effective engagement with unit finance teams, operations, technology and senior leadership without direct reporting authority. • Sound commercial judgement, attention to detail and strong execution across concurrent priorities. • Clear written and verbal communication, including at leadership forums.
