Job Title: Senior Scientist - IP (Intellectual property) Location: Chennai R&D Reports to (Position): First Line Manager Department/Function: IP - Intellectual Property Number of Direct Reports (Solid Line): 0 Number of Direct Reports (Dotted Line): 0 Number of Outsourced Reports: 0 Purpose of the Job: Responsible for • Ensure freedom to operate in alignment with R&D roadmaps • Secure intellectual property in line with organizational strategic goals • Provide business intelligence on technology development • Increase intellectual property awareness in the R&D organization Major Responsibilities: 1. Ensure freedom to operate Search, identify and analyse patents in the fields materials and compounding to provide specific risk assessments – P Report and release results of IP Risk assessment – D Monitor 3rd party rights and provide guidance in support of efforts to avoid risk. - P 2. Secure intellectual property Search, identify and analyse prior art which may impact patentability of disclosed inventions. - P Maintain technical disclosure workflows for new idea submissions. – P Collaborate with technical team for conducting technical concept landscape & updating IDF in the portal. - Q Update and maintain invention disclosures for cooperation with Technical Committee – Materials and Compounding. - P Maintain the workflow to prepare for Patent Committee decisions – D 3.Provide business intelligence Conduct regular assessments of the competitive landscape and market trends to identify risks and opportunities. – P Report business intelligence efforts to the respective technical discipline. – D Monitor specific areas of development which are relevant to strategic R&D roadmaps. - Q 4.Increase intellectual property awareness Support the team of IP specialists, providing guidance, mentorship, and support. - D Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture that promotes knowledge sharing and continuous improvement. - M Educate and train R&D on intellectual property matters, promoting awareness and adherence to IP policies and procedures. - Q Knowledge & Skills: • Knowledge (Technical / Functional) • Strong understanding of intellectual property law and expert in IP research. • Experience in working with IP attorneys.
