**Role & responsibilities** 1. Independently prepare, operate, and conduct **ESWL (Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy)** procedures as per the treating Urologist's instructions. 2. Assess patient readiness before ESWL procedures by verifying patient identity, medical records, and procedural requirements. 3. Prepare and maintain the ESWL machine, ensuring optimal performance and routine quality checks. 4. Assist Urologists during endoscopic and minimally invasive urological procedures such as cystoscopy, ureteroscopy (URS), DJ stenting, TURP, and PCNL. 5. Monitor patients throughout ESWL procedures and promptly report any abnormalities or complications to the treating physician. 6. Ensure proper sterilization, handling, and maintenance of urology instruments and equipment in accordance with hospital infection control policies. 7. Maintain accurate documentation of procedures, equipment usage, patient records, and consumables. 8. Coordinate with nursing staff, consultants, and other departments to ensure smooth patient flow and procedure scheduling. 9. Educate patients regarding pre-procedure preparation and post-procedure care under the guidance of the consultant. 10. Participate in preventive maintenance activities, calibration of equipment, and inventory management of consumables and accessories. 11. Adhere to hospital policies, patient safety standards, NABH protocols, and radiation safety guidelines (where applicable). 12. Respond effectively to emergency situations during procedures and provide immediate technical assistance. Required Skills - Expertise in independently performing ESWL procedures. - Thorough knowledge of urology equipment and instruments. - Strong understanding of urological procedures and patient care protocols. - Ability to troubleshoot basic ESWL equipment issues. - Knowledge of infection prevention and sterilization techniques. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Strong observation, documentation, and organizational abilities. - Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. - Flexibility to work in rotational shifts and emergency situations. Preferred Competencies - Hands-on experience with lithotripters from leading manufacturers. - Familiarity with NABH/JCI quality standards. - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; ACLS certification is an added advantage. - Knowledge of electronic medical records (EMR/HIS). Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) - Safe and successful execution of ESWL procedures. - Patient safety and satisfaction. - Equipment uptime and preventive maintenance compliance. - Accuracy of procedural documentation. - Adherence to infection control and quality standards. - Timely support for all urology procedures.
