Job description

We are looking for a technically qualified and experienced professional to manage patent identification, drafting, filing, prosecution support, and intellectual-property activities for the organizations R&D and engineering innovations. The position will work closely with R&D, engineering, product development, legal, and external patent attorneys to protect new technologies, products, processes, designs, and technical improvements. The role will also support the development of the organization’s patent portfolio and ensure timely tracking of patent applications, office actions, renewals, and related documentation. Key Responsibilities • Identify patentable inventions through regular interaction with R&D, engineering, product development, manufacturing, and technology teams. • Conduct preliminary patentability assessments, prior-art searches, novelty reviews, and technology landscaping. • Coordinate with inventors and patent attorneys for preparation of patent specifications, claims, drawings, and supporting technical documents. • Manage the complete patent lifecycle, including invention disclosure, drafting, filing, publication, examination, grant, opposition, renewal, and closure. • Coordinate filing of provisional, complete specification, national, international, PCT, design, and other relevant IP applications. • Review technical patent drafts for accuracy, clarity, scope, and alignment with the actual invention. • Maintain a detailed database and docket of patents, applications, deadlines, inventors, assignees, jurisdictions, and legal status. • Monitor examination reports, office actions, hearings, oppositions, objections, and responses in coordination with external counsel. • Prepare invention disclosure forms, patent evaluation reports, technical summaries, and management presentations. • Support freedom-to-operate searches, infringement analysis, competitive intelligence, and technology benchmarking. • Conduct patent awareness and invention-disclosure sessions for R&D and technical employees. • Ensure confidentiality of unpublished inventions and compliance with company policies, NDAs, and applicable IP regulations. • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports covering new disclosures, filings, grants, pending applications, costs, and patent portfolio status. • Support documentation required for government incentives, R&D certifications, technology-transfer activities, and audits, wherever applicable. • Assist in developing the organization’s IP strategy in line with business, product, and technology objectives. Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Technology, Science, Materials Science, Chemistry, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline. • Certification or formal qualification in Intellectual Property Rights, Patent Law, Patent Searching, or Patent Drafting. • Registered Patent Agent qualification will be preferred. • Experience in patent management, patent drafting, patent prosecution, technology research, or R&D documentation. • Candidates with relevant R&D experience in solar energy, energy storage, lithium-ion batteries, power electronics, electrical systems, manufacturing, materials, or industrial technology will be preferred. Experience and Technical Skills • 5–10 years of relevant experience in patents, intellectual property, R&D, technology management, or patent consulting. • Strong understanding of patent filing and prosecution procedures in India and international jurisdictions. • Hands-on experience with patent databases and prior-art search platforms. • Knowledge of patent specifications, claims, abstracts, drawings, citations, and inventor documentation. • Ability to understand complex engineering and scientific concepts and convert them into clear technical and patent language. • Familiarity with patent docketing systems, IP portfolio management, and legal documentation. • Working knowledge of MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint, patent databases, and document-management systems. • Strong technical writing, analytical, coordination, and communication skills. Preferred Industry Exposure Experience in one or more of the following areas will be advantageous: • Solar cells, modules, inverters, and renewable-energy systems. • Lithium-ion batteries, battery packs, BMS, cell manufacturing, and energy-storage systems. • Mechanical, electrical, electronics, chemical, or process engineering. • Advanced materials, coatings, polymers, chemicals, or manufacturing processes. • Product development, process improvement, automation, and industrial innovation. • R&D laboratories, engineering centers, technology companies, or manufacturing organizations.
