Manager Cell Process (LithiumIon Battery Manufacturing) Role Purpose Lead and optimize the lithiumion cell manufacturing process to achieve safe, highquality, highyield, and costefficient production at scale. Key Responsibilities Process Ownership & Optimization • Own the cell process from electrode mixing/coating/calendering through cell assembly, electrolyte filling, formation, aging, and EOL testing. • Develop, validate, and control process parameters (SOPs, control plans, PFMEA) to meet performance, safety, and reliability specs. • Drive continuous improvement (Lean/Six Sigma) to reduce scrap, improve firstpass yield, and lower cost per kWh. Production & Team Leadership • Lead a team of process engineers, technicians, and shift supervisors; set goals, coach, and ensure coverage for 24/7 operations if required. • Run daily production meetings, prioritize bottlenecks, and ensure ontime delivery against the production plan. Quality, Safety & Compliance • Partner with Quality to define inline QC checks, SPC charts, and escapeprevention systems; lead rootcause analysis for defects and field issues. • Ensure compliance with EHS standards for lithiumbattery manufacturing (chemical handling, dryroom controls, thermal runaway prevention). Equipment, Scaleup & New Product Introduction (NPI) • Specify, commission, and qualify new equipment; manage FAT/SAT, process capability studies, and rampup to volume. • Work with R&D/Cell Design to transfer new chemistries/formats from pilot to mass production, including DOE, validation, and risk assessment. Data, Systems & Reporting • Use MES/SCADA and statistical tools to monitor OEE, yield, cycle time, and process stability; report KPIs to plant leadership. • Maintain rigorous documentation (SOPs, work instructions, change control, training records). Typical KPIs • Firstpass yield / scrap rate • OEE, throughput, and cycle time • Cost per kWh and material utilization • Safety incidents and audit findings • Ontime delivery and customer quality metrics (PPM, returns) Qualifications & Experience • Bachelor’s (required) / Master’s (preferred) in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Materials, or Manufacturing Engineering. • 8–12+ years in highvolume manufacturing; 5+ years specifically in lithiumion cell production (electrode, assembly, or formation). • Proven peoplemanagement experience (10+ direct/indirect reports preferred).
