Position: Embedded C Linux Developer Experience: 5-8 years Job Location: Coimbatore Position Type: Full time Qualification: Any graduate Work Mode: Hybrid Job Summary: We are looking for an experienced Embedded C Linux Developer to define and drive scalable, secure, and high-performance gateway and edge computing architectures for connected products built on Linux platforms. The role requires strong expertise in Embedded Linux, C/, networking, IoT connectivity, and distributed edge-to-cloud systems. Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Embedded Linux Systems Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Linux system development, particularly with Yocto integration, and possess expertise in various aspects of embedded Linux, including device drivers, package management, networking, and security. Responsibilities: • Yocto is deeply integrated with Linux. Deep understanding of Linux filesystems, package management, networking, and security concepts are essential. • Hands-on experience with embedded Linux development, including toolchains, configuration, customization and cross-compilation of Bootloader, Linux kernel, device tree, initramfs, rootfs and systemd are necessary for working with custom Yocto-based distribution. • Familiarity with core concepts of the Yocto Project, including layers, recipes, classes, and machine configurations. Proficiency understanding Yocto's build system and metadata are key for creating and customizing Yocto-based distributions. • Understanding package management concepts, such as creating recipes for software components, managing dependencies, and package versioning, is necessary for developing custom Yocto distributions. • Understanding of hardware components, architectures(ARM), and interfaces • Understanding of networking concepts, protocols, technologies, network interfaces, routing, and firewall rules on embedded Linux systems. Experience in analyzing network traffic. Focus: HTTPS, MQTT, XMPP, TCP/IP, CAN, Modbus • Knowledge of network security best practices, including encryption, authentication, and access control • Knowledge of secure boot, storage, and secure communication protocols. Familiarity with cryptographic algorithms, protocols, and libraries for encryption and digital signatures. • Proficiency in Bash and/or LUA is important for writing custom scripts to automate tasks, configure build environments, and customize recipes in Yocto. • Debugging and Troubleshooting: • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills are crucial for identifying and resolving issues that arise during the development and deployment of custom Yocto distributions. • Strong programming skills in C. Expected skill set: • Strong expertise in Embedded C development on Linux platforms. • Proven experience in Embedded Linux architecture and gateway software design. • Hands-on experience within Embedded Linux, Yocto / Buildroot, BSP and device driver development, Multi-threaded and distributed systems • Strong understanding of Linux networking stack and TCP/IP fundamentals. • Experience with industrial protocols: MQTT, Modbus, CAN and Ethernet • Knowledge of containerization and edge deployment technologies. • Experience in secure boot, OTA updates, and embedded cybersecurity concepts. • Familiarity with automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices in embedded systems. • Ability to stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
