About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Embedded Firmware Design Engineer to join our engineering team and contribute to the design, development, testing, and validation of embedded firmware solutions for industrial and motor protection products. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Embedded C programming, RTOS/Linux-based embedded systems, communication protocols, hardware-software integration, and industrial control applications. The role involves working closely with hardware, system architecture, and product teams to develop robust, reliable, and high-performance firmware for next-generation embedded products. Key Responsibilities: • Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded firmware for microcontroller-based systems. • Implement and optimize real-time software using RTOS (FreeRTOS, embOS, or equivalent), Linux-based embedded platforms, or bare-metal architectures. • Develop and customize bootloaders, firmware update mechanisms, and system startup processes. • Integrate and validate industrial communication protocols such as: • Modbus RTU • Modbus TCP • UART • SPI • I2C • CAN • Develop firmware interfaces for embedded peripherals including ADCs, PWMs, timers, interrupts, GPIOs, watchdogs, and communication modules. • Implement motor protection and monitoring algorithms such as: • Overload Protection • Phase Loss Detection • Current Imbalance Detection • Thermal Protection • Fault Monitoring and Diagnostics • Collaborate with hardware engineers for board bring-up, debugging, validation, and product qualification. • Analyze schematics, datasheets, and hardware design documents to support firmware development. • Conduct root cause analysis and resolve complex firmware and system-level issues. • Perform firmware optimization for memory, performance, and power consumption. • Support product verification, system testing, and field issue resolution. • Maintain design documentation, test reports, and software release artifacts. • Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and software quality processes. Required Skills & Qualifications Technical Skills • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in Embedded Firmware Development. • Strong programming expertise in Embedded C with proven experience in developing production-grade firmware. • Experience with: • RTOS (FreeRTOS, embOS, Zephyr, or equivalent) • Linux-based embedded systems • Bare-metal firmware development • Strong understanding of embedded communication protocols: • Modbus RTU/TCP • UART • SPI • I2C • CAN • Good understanding of embedded peripherals: • ADC • PWM • Timers • Interrupts • DMA • GPIO • Experience in bootloader development and firmware upgrade mechanisms. • Hands-on experience in firmware development on: • ARM Cortex-M Series • TI Microcontrollers • Similar embedded controller platforms • Strong understanding of hardware-software integration. • Experience using debugging and validation tools: • JTAG Debuggers • Oscilloscopes • Logic Analyzers • Protocol Analyzers • Ability to read and interpret: • Circuit Schematics • Datasheets • Technical Specifications • Experience in board bring-up, debugging, and validation activities. • Familiarity with software development tools: • Git • Jira • Coverity • Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills: • Experience with industrial protocols such as: • Profibus • Profinet • Knowledge of secure firmware development practices. • Familiarity with MISRA C guidelines and static code analysis tools. • Experience with firmware upgrade and OTA update mechanisms. • Understanding of industrial standards such as: • IEC 60947 • IEC 61000 • Related industrial control standards • Basic understanding of: • Control Systems • Motor Control Theory • Signal Processing Techniques • Exposure to industrial automation, motor protection relays, or intelligent electronic devices (IEDs).
