The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in driver development, peripheral interfacing, board bring-up, and hardware-level debugging — building the foundation that every layer of application firmware runs on. Experience in aerospace, defence, avionics, or other mission-critical electronics domains will be highly valued. Role Overview • Department Engineering / Embedded Systems / Avionics & Defence Electronics • Experience 2 - 5 Years of relevant embedded firmware experience • Qualification B.E. / B.Tech / M.E. / M.Tech — Electronics, Electrical, Embedded Systems, Instrumentation, Computer Science or related discipline • Domain Preference Aerospace, Defence, Avionics, Space, or Mission-Critical Systems Responsibilities • Develop, test, debug, and maintain embedded firmware for 32-bit microcontrollers and processors. • Implement drivers for peripherals including UART, SPI, I²C, CAN, Ethernet, USB, ADC, DAC, PWM, and GPIO. • Develop low-level drivers, board support packages (BSPs), and bootloader modules. • Perform MCU initialization: startup code, linker scripts, clock trees, MPU/cache configuration, and interrupt priority assignment. • Perform board bring-up, hardware validation, firmware integration, and system-level debugging. • Use lab instruments — DSO, logic analyzer, protocol analyzer, multimeter, function generator, JTAG/SWD debuggers — to characterize and debug issues. • Diagnose communication failures, timing problems, interrupt latency, noise, grounding issues, and signal integrity faults. • Review schematics and hardware designs from a firmware integration perspective. • Support design verification, environmental testing, and EMI/EMC qualification activities. • Prepare driver-level design documents, bring-up reports, debug reports, and release notes. • Participate in code reviews and unit testing of drivers and low-level modules. • Collaborate with the Application Firmware Engineer, hardware, FPGA, and QA teams. Qualifications • B.E. / B.Tech / M.E. / M.Tech — Electronics, Electrical, Embedded Systems, Instrumentation, Computer Science or related discipline Required Skills Required Skills & Experience • Core Programming, Strong proficiency in Embedded C; working knowledge of Python for scripting. • Solid understanding of MCU architecture: memory map, registers, interrupts, DMA, timers, clocks, watchdogs, low-power modes. • Primary experience in bare-metal firmware development, with the ability to bring drivers up under an RTOS. Supported MCU Platforms • ARM Cortex-M series (STM32, NXP, Microchip SAM / PIC32) • Renesas, Infineon, or other equivalent 32-bit MCU platforms RTOS Concepts • ISR-to-task handoff and interrupt priority assignment at the driver boundary • Hardware timer configuration for OS tick and peripheral timing • Enough working knowledge of task/thread context to hand off a clean, RTOS-safe driver interface to the application layer Communication Protocols • UART, SPI, I²C, CAN / CAN-FD — register-level configuration and driver implementation • RS-232, RS-485, Ethernet, USB Debugging & Tooling • JTAG, SWD, breakpoints, watchpoints, memory views, register inspection, trace tools. • Proficient with lab instruments: DSO, logic analyzer, protocol analyzer, multimeter, function generator. • Working knowledge of IDEs/toolchains: Keil, IAR, STM32CubeIDE, MPLAB X, Code Composer Studio, GCC, Eclipse. • Source control: Git. • Ability to independently read schematics and component datasheets. Preferred Skills • Prior experience in aerospace, defense, avionics, space, radar, electronic warfare, or mission-critical embedded systems. • Familiarity with MISRA C, MIL-STD requirements, or RTCA qualification processes. • Experience with secure boot, firmware upgrade mechanisms, CRC verification, watchdog strategy, and fail safe design. • Knowledge of high-reliability and fault-tolerant embedded design practices. • EMI/EMC debugging experience and environmental testing support. • FPGA interface bring-up and processor-FPGA communication design. • Real-time data acquisition, sensor interfacing, or actuator control experience at the driver level. • Python or scripting skills for test automation and utility development. • Exposure to static analysis tools for embedded firmware. • Programming: Embedded C (primary), C++ (preferred), Python scripting • RTOS: FreeRTOS. • Debug Tools: JTAG, SWD, ST-Link, J-Link, Lauterbach, XDS, or equivalent • Lab Instruments: DSO, Logic Analyzer, Protocol Analyzer, Multimeter, Function Generator • Protocols: UART, SPI, I²C, CAN / CAN-FD, Ethernet, USB, RS-232, RS-485 • Version Control: Git • Documentation: Design documents, test procedures, traceability docs, technical reports Key Competencies • Strong Firmware Fundamentals • Hardware-Software Integration • Hands-on Debugging & Problem-Solving • Signal Integrity Awareness • Documentation & Process Discipline • Cross-functional Collaboration
