The ideal candidate will be responsible for dispensing medications accurately, ensuring compliance with hospital protocols, maintaining inventory, and providing medication-related support to patients and healthcare professionals. The candidate should possess sound knowledge of pharmaceutical practices and demonstrate a strong commitment to patient safety and quality care. Key Responsibilities - Dispense prescribed medications accurately as per physician orders and hospital protocols. - Verify prescriptions for completeness, dosage accuracy, drug interactions, contraindications, and allergies before dispensing. - Counsel patients on medication usage, dosage, storage, precautions, and potential side effects whenever applicable. - Ensure safe handling, storage, and labeling of medications in compliance with NABH guidelines and statutory regulations. - Maintain adequate inventory levels by monitoring stock, expiry dates, and reorder requirements. - Perform regular stock verification and ensure proper documentation of controlled and high-risk medications. - Coordinate with doctors, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals regarding medication-related queries. - Ensure timely replenishment of ward and emergency pharmacy stocks. - Maintain accurate records of dispensing, billing, and pharmacy transactions. - Follow infection control practices and medication safety standards. - Report medication errors, adverse drug reactions, and discrepancies as per hospital policy. - Participate in departmental audits, quality improvement initiatives, and continuous education programs. - Ensure compliance with hospital policies, Pharmacy Act regulations, and NABH standards. Required Skills - Strong knowledge of pharmacology and pharmaceutical practices. - Understanding of hospital pharmacy operations. - Knowledge of drug interactions, dosage calculations, and medication safety. - Good communication and interpersonal skills. - Attention to detail and high level of accuracy. - Ability to work in rotational shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. - Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with Hospital Information Systems (HIS) or pharmacy management software.
