Job Title: Procurement Manager Location: Kolkata, West Bengal Job Overview: We are a leading integrated Specialty Chemicals Company and Star Export House, committed to delivering high-quality products across various global industries. Our specialty chemicals serve essential applications, including Plywood manufacturing, Animal Feed binders, Tyres, Abrasives, Foundry, and Industrial Adhesives. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Procurement Manager to join our team at our Factory and Head Office in Kolkata. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional negotiation skills, a strong commitment to on-time delivery, efficiency in procurement processes, and a proactive approach to vendor development. Additionally, a degree in Mechanical Engineering is required to effectively understand and oversee procurement within our manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Procurement: • Develop and implement strategic procurement plans to optimize costs while maintaining high quality and timely delivery. • Identify reliable suppliers and negotiate favorable contractual terms and pricing agreements. • Monitor market trends and raw material developments to mitigate supply risks and capture cost-saving opportunities. Supply Chain Management: • Oversee supply chain operations to meet daily manufacturing schedules and minimize inventory holding costs. • Coordinate closely with production and planning departments to forecast procurement needs and ensure seamless material availability. • Build and maintain long-term vendor relationships to secure continuity of supply and resolve supply chain bottlenecks. Vendor Development: • Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers based on stringent quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness standards. • Conduct periodic vendor performance evaluations and ensure adherence to contractual agreements. • Collaborate with key suppliers to drive continuous process improvements and value-added services. Inventory Management: • Monitor stock levels to ensure smooth manufacturing support without over-capitalizing on inventory. • Conduct regular inventory audits, perform variance analysis, and reconcile discrepancies. • Implement inventory control strategies to minimize excess, slow-moving, or obsolete stock, arranging timely disposal when necessary. Compliance & Reporting: • Ensure full compliance with internal company policies, regulatory standards, and statutory procurement guidelines. • Maintain complete documentation of vendor contracts, purchase orders, and transaction history. • Generate periodic procurement performance reports to guide strategic executive decision-making. Qualifications & Requirements: • Education: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering (mandatory). Additional degree/diploma in Business Administration or Supply Chain Management is preferred. • Experience: 8–10 years of proven experience in procurement management within a manufacturing setup, ideally in the chemical or related process industries. • Skills: Strong negotiation track record, deep knowledge of vendor development, inventory management software, ERP/SAP systems, and Microsoft Office. • Competencies: Strong analytical mindset, excellent interpersonal communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.
