Job Description Root Cause Analysis About Us: Battery Smart is India’s largest and fastest-growing battery-swapping network for electric two and three-wheelers.Founded in 2019 and launched in 2020, we are transforming the EV ecosystem by making electric mobility accessible,economical, and scalable through a unique partner-led model. Today, we power the journeys of over 1 Lac+ drivers daily through 1,600+ swap stations across India. Role Overview: We are looking for a highly analytical and detail-oriented RCA & Quality Specialist to lead end-to-end failure investigations across our battery and swapping ecosystem. This role will focus on identifying root causes of failures, driving corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and strengthening system-wide quality to ensure reliability, safety, and scalability. Key Responsibilities: 1. Failure Investigation & Traceability • Lead traceability of suspected defective components across production, warehouse, and field locations • Identify impacted batches using serial numbers, lot codes, and internal systems • Execute containment actions such as quarantine, sorting, rework, and recall coordination • Collaborate with operations, supply chain, and quality teams to prevent issue escalation • Maintain audit-ready traceability records 2. Root Cause Analysis (RCA) • Conduct structured RCA using methodologies like 8D, 5-Why, FTA, and DOE • Investigate mechanical, electrical, electronic, and process-related failures • Validate root causes using data, field insights, and physical evidence • Prepare detailed investigation reports and present findings to stakeholders 3. Corrective & Preventive Actions (CAPA) • Define and implement corrective and preventive actions based on RCA outcomes • Drive improvements across design, processes, suppliers, and quality controls • Update SOPs, control plans, and inspection standards • Ensure cross-functional closure of action items 4. Effectiveness Validation • Design and execute validation plans to assess CAPA effectiveness • Monitor post-implementation performance metrics • Conduct audits and process verification checks • Track reduction in repeat failures and escalate gaps 5. Data Analysis & Reporting • Analyze defect trends and failure patterns using data-driven approaches • Build dashboards and maintain investigation trackers • Present insights and recommendations to leadership • Support audits, customer reviews, and compliance requirements Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Industrial or related field) • 6–8 years of experience in manufacturing quality, automotive, EV, battery, or electronics industry • Strong understanding of quality tools and structured problem-solving methodologies Key Skills & Competencies: • Strong analytical and structured thinking • Hands-on experience in RCA and CAPA execution • High ownership and accountability • Cross-functional collaboration skills • Attention to detail and data-driven decision making • Effective communication and stakeholder management Why Join Battery Smart: • Work on real-world impact problems accelerating EV adoption in India • Build products used daily by drivers and partners across multiple cities • Opportunity to own systems at scale from day one • High ownership, fast execution, and strong learning environment
