Job description

At Licious, we are building a scalable and reliable data platform that powers critical business decisions, operational intelligence, and next-generation data products. As an **SDE I – Data** , you will play a key role in designing, building, and optimizing large-scale distributed data systems that process and serve data across the organization. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about distributed systems, streaming architectures, and platform engineering . What You'll Be Doing: - *Build Scalable Data Platfo* rms: Design, develop, and maintain large-scale data pipelines and distributed systems that support real-time and batch data processing across the organization. - *Streaming & Data Processi* ng: Build and optimize data processing solutions using modern streaming and distributed computing frameworks to ensure high throughput, reliability, and scalability. - *Platform Engineer* ing: Contribute to the development and evolution of the data platform, improving system reliability, operational efficiency, observability, and developer experience. - *System Design & Architect* ure: Participate in the design and implementation of scalable data architectures and distributed systems while making informed engineering trade-offs around performance, reliability, and cost. - *Infrastructure & Cloud Automat* ion: Leverage modern infrastructure and orchestration tools to build, deploy, and operate highly available data services and platform components. - *Performance & Optimizat* ion: Identify bottlenecks and continuously improve data processing efficiency, system performance, platform costs, and resource utilization. - *Cross-Functional Collaborat* ion: Partner closely with software engineers, platform engineers, product teams, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver scalable solutions. - *Operational Excelle* nce: Participate in monitoring, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and production support activities to ensure platform stability and reliability. What You'll Bring to the Team ***Experien* ce: 1–3 years** of experience in Software Engineering, Data Engineering, Platform Engineering, or related backend engineering roles, with hands-on experience building distributed systems and data infrastructure. ***Distributed Systems & Data Engineeri* ng:** Strong experience with: - Apache Spark - Apache Kafka - Streaming data architecture. - Batch processing system. - Distributed computing concepts ***Programming Skills*** - Strong proficiency in **Python (must-have)** - Experience with modern programming languages such as Golang or Rust is a plus - Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software engineering fundamentals. ***Infrastructure & Platform Engineering* :** Hands on Experience with deploying, operating, and troubleshooting applications in cloud-native environments. ***Databases & Data Modeling:*** - Strong SQL skills - Experience working with large-scale datasets - Exp working with spark , job optimizations. - Understanding of data modeling and data pipeline design principles. ***System Design & Problem Solving*** - Strong understanding of low-level system design concepts. - Ability to reason about distributed systems, scalability challenges, and architectural trade-offs - Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills ***Impact-Oriented Mindset:*** Demonstrated ability to deliver measurable business outcomes through engineering initiatives, such as: - Platform cost optimization - Reliability improvement - Performance enhancements ***Collaboration & Ownership :*** - Strong ownership mindset and accountability - Ability to work independently on complex engineering problems - Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills - Passion for learning new technologies and solving challenging technical problems Good to Have: - Experience with AI-enabled platforms, RAG systems, LLM-based applications, or modern AI infrastructure. Qualification and Experience - 1-3 years of experience in Software Engineering, Data Engineering, Backend Engineering, or Platform Engineering. - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. - Proven experience building and operating distributed systems in a product or technology-driven environment.
