Job Description Woven Fabric Merchandiser Position: Woven Fabric Merchandiser Location: Bangalore, Karnataka Industry: Garment Manufacturing / Apparel Export Department: Merchandising / Sourcing Experience: 26 years Employment Type: Full-time Job Summary We are looking for an experienced Woven Fabric Merchandiser to manage fabric sourcing, development, costing, order follow-up, and coordination between fabric suppliers, garment production teams, buyers, and internal departments. The candidate should have good knowledge of woven fabrics and garment manufacturing processes. Key Responsibilities • Handle woven fabric sourcing and merchandising from development through bulk production. • Develop fabrics according to buyer specifications, including composition, construction, GSM, width, finish, color, and performance requirements . • Coordinate with fabric mills and suppliers for fabric development, sampling, lab dips, strike-offs, and approvals . • Analyze buyer tech packs, fabric specifications, BOMs, and purchase requirements. • Obtain and compare fabric quotations, negotiate prices, and support costing . • Follow up on fabric booking, production planning, delivery schedules, and shipment timelines . • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely submission of quality and testing reports . • Monitor fabric quality against approved standards and specifications. • Coordinate with QA/QC, production, sourcing, sampling, stores, and purchase teams . • Track fabric approvals and ensure comments are closed within agreed timelines. • Follow up on bulk fabric production, inspection, dispatch, and delivery . • Maintain accurate records of fabric developments, orders, approvals, lead times, and supplier performance. • Identify suitable new fabric suppliers and mills based on quality, price, capacity, and delivery performance . • Resolve issues related to shade variation, GSM, width, shrinkage, colorfastness, defects, and delivery delays . • Ensure fabric availability in line with garment production and shipment deadlines. Required Skills • Strong knowledge of woven fabrics such as cotton, linen, viscose, rayon, polyester, Tencel, poplin, twill, satin, dobby, jacquard, denim, etc. • Good understanding of fabric construction, GSM, yarn count, weave, finishes, shrinkage, and testing parameters . • Experience in fabric costing and supplier negotiation . • Good knowledge of garment production and export merchandising. • Ability to read and understand tech packs and fabric specifications . • Strong follow-up and coordination skills. • Good communication and negotiation abilities. • Proficiency in MS Excel and merchandising/ERP systems . • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple developments/orders simultaneously. Qualification • Graduate in Textile Technology, Apparel/Fashion Merchandising, Textile Engineering, Fashion Technology, or a related field . • 26 years of relevant experience in woven fabric merchandising/sourcing , preferably with a garment export house or buying house.
