Job Title: Firmware Architect – Server Management / Embedded Systems Location: India, Bangalore Experience: 12–18 years **Role Overview:** We are looking for a seasoned Architect to lead and deliver solutions for enterprise clients in the domain of server management and Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) technologies. This role is part of a service-based organization, requiring strong customer engagement, solutioning mindset, and multi-project delivery expertise. The candidate will act as a technical leader and advisor, driving architecture, implementation, and modernization of out-of-band management solutions across client environments. **Key Responsibilities:** Client Engagement & Solutioning - Engage with enterprise customers to understand requirements and propose end-to-end server management and BMC solutions. - Act as a trusted advisor for server management, remote monitoring, and firmware architecture. - Participate in RFP/RFI responses, effort estimation, and technical proposals. - Provide consulting on modernization, migration, and optimization of server management platforms. **Architecture & Design** - Define architecture for BMC firmware, out-of-band management, and remote provisioning solutions. - Design reusable frameworks and accelerators for multi-client delivery environments. - Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and compliant with enterprise standards. - Drive adoption of industry standards such as Redfish, DMTF, IPMI, SNMP, and REST APIs. **Delivery & Execution:** - Lead multiple projects and ensure on-time, high-quality delivery. - Provide technical oversight across development, integration, testing, and deployment. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware, OS, cloud, security, DevOps). - Define best practices, code reviews, and quality benchmarks. **Firmware & Platform Expertise:** - Guide teams in developing and enhancing embedded firmware for BMC platforms. - Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to BMC, OpenBMC, or similar server management systems. - Optimize performance, reliability, and remote lifecycle management capabilities. **Security & Compliance:** - Architect secure solutions covering secure boot, root of trust, encryption, authentication. - Ensure compliance with enterprise and regulatory standards (NIST, CIS benchmarks, etc.). - Address vulnerabilities and implement security hardening strategies. **Pre-sales & Practice Development:** - Support business growth through solution demos, PoCs, and capability presentations. - Build and enhance firmware and server management competency/practice within the organization. - Mentor teams and contribute to knowledge assets, reusable IPs, and training programs. **Required Qualifications:** **Education** - Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or related field. **Experience** - 12+ years of experience in embedded systems, firmware, or server management technologies. - Hands-on experience with enterprise server management platforms or equivalent BMC solutions (e.g., OpenBMC). Technical Skills - Strong programming skills in C/C++ and embedded Linux. - Deep understanding of BMC architecture and out-of-band server management. - Experience with: - Redfish APIs, IPMI, SNMP - Networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS) - Hardware interfaces (I2C, SPI, UART, PCIe) - Familiarity with firmware debugging tools and diagnostics. - Knowledge of virtualization, cloud platforms, and data center operations. Preferred Skills - Experience in multi-client delivery environments (service-based companies). - Knowledge of open-source BMC platforms and related ecosystems. - Exposure to DevOps, CI/CD pipelines for firmware releases. - Experience with data center automation and telemetry solutions. Soft Skills & Leadership - Strong client-facing and communication skills. - Ability to manage multiple stakeholders across geographies. - Proven leadership in driving distributed engineering teams. - Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
