1. Project Planning & Mobilization • Develop detailed execution plan for earthworks and bridge packages. • Finalize construction methodology (embankment formation, soil stabilization, piling, girder launching, etc.). • Resource planning (manpower, machinery, batching plants, casting yards). • Prepare construction schedules aligned with overall railway corridor timeline. 2. Earthworks Management • Oversee: • Site clearance and stripping • Embankment construction • Cutting works • Subgrade preparation • Blanket layer construction • Ensure proper soil investigation and material approval. • Monitor compaction, moisture control, and density tests. • Coordinate borrow area approvals and material logistics. • Manage slope protection, retaining walls, and drainage systems. 3. Bridge Construction Management • Supervise execution of: • Pile foundations (bored/driven piles) • Open foundations and well foundations • Piers, abutments, wing walls • PSC/RCC girders • Steel girder erection • Deck slab and bearing installation • Coordinate girder casting yard and launching activities. • Ensure staging, shuttering, and formwork safety. • Monitor river training and diversion works (for major bridges). 4. Technical & Design Coordination • Review GADs, structural drawings, and bar bending schedules. • Coordinate with design consultants for revisions and approvals. • Ensure compliance with railway codes and IRS specifications. • Address site-related design modifications. 5. Quality Assurance & Control • Implement QA/QC plans for: • Earth compaction tests • Concrete cube tests • Pile integrity tests • Load testing • Ensure material approvals (cement, steel, aggregates). • Maintain quality documentation and inspection records. 6. Safety Management • Ensure safe working practices during: • Deep excavation • Piling operations • Girder launching • Working near running tracks • Conduct toolbox talks and safety audits. • Enforce PPE and heavy equipment safety protocols. 7. Contract & Commercial Management • Manage subcontractors for piling, casting, launching. • Verify RA bills and measurements. • Handle variations and extra items. • Monitor cost control and productivity rates. 8. Risk & Delay Management • Identify risks such as: • Flooding in bridge areas • Soil instability • Utility shifting delays • Land acquisition issues • Implement mitigation strategies and recovery schedules. 9. Coordination & Stakeholder Management • Coordinate with: • Railway authorities • Local administration • Utility agencies • Environmental bodies • Attend review meetings and submit progress reports. 10. Testing, Inspection & Handover • Facilitate inspections by railway authorities. • Ensure completion of snag lists. • Coordinate load testing of bridges. • Support track-laying team post formation readiness.
