Role & responsibilities The Design Coordinator is responsible for managing and coordinating all architectural, interior design, structural, MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing), landscaping, and specialty consultant designs for hotel development projects. The role ensures that designs are fully integrated, compliant with hotel brand standards, technically feasible, cost-effective, and delivered within project timelines. Key Responsibilities Design Management & Coordination • Coordinate design development activities across architects, interior designers, structural engineers, MEP consultants, and specialty consultants. • Review design submissions for completeness, consistency, and compliance with project requirements. • Ensure seamless integration of all design disciplines. • Facilitate design coordination meetings and maintain action trackers. Hotel Brand Compliance • Ensure designs comply with hotel operator brand standards and guidelines. • Coordinate reviews with hotel operators and management teams. • Incorporate operational requirements into design development. Design Review & Technical Evaluation • Review drawings, specifications, and technical documents. • Identify design clashes and coordinate resolution among consultants. • Evaluate constructability, maintainability, and operational efficiency of proposed designs. • Coordinate value engineering initiatives to optimize project costs. Stakeholder Coordination • Liaise with project management teams, consultants, contractors, hotel operators, and client representatives. • Manage communication and approvals related to design submissions. • Present design updates and progress reports to stakeholders. Regulatory Compliance • Ensure designs comply with local building codes, fire & life safety requirements, accessibility standards, and statutory regulations. • Coordinate submission of drawings for government approvals and permits. Design Documentation Control • Maintain design registers and drawing logs. • Monitor design deliverables against project schedules. • Ensure proper revision control and document management. Construction Support • Provide technical support during construction. • Review RFIs (Requests for Information), shop drawings, material submissions, and mock-ups. • Coordinate resolution of site-related design issues. • Participate in site inspections and progress reviews. Risk & Quality Management • Identify design risks and implement mitigation plans. • Ensure adherence to quality standards throughout the design process. • Monitor consultant performance and design quality. Required Qualifications • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Interior Design, Construction Management, or related field. • Master's Degree is an added advantage. • Professional registration/licensure preferred. Experience Requirements • 5-10 years of experience in design coordination, architecture, engineering, or hospitality development projects. • Experience in hotel, resort, mixed-use, luxury residential, or commercial projects preferred. • Experience working with international hotel brands is an advantage.
