Head - Press Shop (AGM/DGM)

Job Purpose: To lead and manage end-to-end Press Shop operations, ensuring achievement of production, quality, cost, delivery, and safety objectives through effective utilization of manpower, machines, dies, materials, and manufacturing processes. Drive operational excellence, productivity improvement, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives to support business growth and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities Production & Operations Management • Lead overall Press Shop operations and achieve Production, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Safety (PQCDS) targets. • Ensure optimum utilization of presses, dies, manpower, and shop-floor resources. • Drive capacity enhancement, throughput improvement, and operational efficiency. • Monitor production performance through OEE, productivity, utilization, and downtime analysis. Manufacturing Excellence • Implement Lean Manufacturing, TPM, SMED, Kaizen, and 5S initiatives. • Drive process standardization and continuous improvement projects. • Reduce cycle time, changeover time, rejection, and manufacturing costs. • Lead automation and digitalization projects for operational excellence. Quality Management • Ensure production of defect-free sheet metal components as per customer requirements. • Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, customer-specific requirements, and internal quality systems. • Drive root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive measures for quality concerns. • Reduce rejection, rework, customer complaints, and PPM levels. Tool & Die Management • Ensure effective die maintenance and die-life enhancement. • Coordinate with Tool Room for preventive and breakdown maintenance. • Support new die development, tryouts, and production readiness. • Improve die uptime and stamping consistency. Safety & Compliance • Establish and sustain a zero-harm safety culture. • Ensure compliance with EHS policies, statutory requirements, and safety audits. • Identify and mitigate operational risks across Press Shop activities. • Promote sustainable manufacturing and energy conservation initiatives. People Leadership • Lead and mentor managers, engineers, supervisors, and operators. • Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability and continuous improvement. • Drive capability development, succession planning, and employee engagement. • Foster cross-functional collaboration with Quality, Maintenance, PPC, SCM, and Tool Room teams. Educational Qualifications • B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or equivalent. • MBA/PGDM preferred. Experience • 18-25 years of experience in Automotive Manufacturing. • Minimum 8-10 years in leadership roles managing large Press Shop operations. • Strong experience in Sheet Metal Stamping, Transfer Presses, Progressive Dies, Tandem Lines, Tooling, and High-Volume Manufacturing. • Experience working with OEMs or Tier-1 Automotive suppliers preferred.
