**Job Description Procurement Manager** **About Us**: Battery Smart is Indias largest and fastest-growing battery-swapping network for electric two and three-wheelers. Founded in 2019 and launched in 2020, we are transforming electric mobility by making it accessible, economical, and scalable through a partner-led model. Today, we power the journeys of 1 lac+ drivers daily across 1,600+ swap stations in India. **Role Overview**: We are seeking an experienced and strategic Procurement Manager to lead sourcing, supplier management, contract negotiations, and procurement operations across our growing business. This role will be responsible for ensuring uninterrupted availability of materials, components, and services while optimizing cost, quality, delivery performance, and supply chain resilience. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and drive procurement excellence to support Battery Smart’s growth and operational objectives. **Key Responsibilities:** **1. Strategic Procurement & Sourcing** •Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with organizational goals and growth plans. • Lead strategic sourcing initiatives for direct and indirect materials, components, and services. • Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers to enhance competitiveness, innovation, and supply continuity. • Conduct market intelligence and benchmarking on pricing, technologies, industry trends, and supplier capabilities. • Develop category management strategies and supplier development plans for critical spend categories. **2. Supplier Relationship Management** •Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and strategic partners. • Evaluate supplier performance across Quality, Cost, Delivery, Service, and Sustainability metrics. • Conduct regular supplier reviews, business meetings, and performance assessments. • Drive supplier improvement initiatives to enhance capability, efficiency, and responsiveness. • Resolve escalated supplier issues, disputes, and performance concerns in a timely manner. **3. Cost Management & Commercial Negotiation** • Lead commercial negotiations covering pricing, contracts, payment terms, service agreements, and long-term partnerships. • Identify and execute cost-saving and value-engineering opportunities across procurement categories. • Analyze spending patterns and market trends to drive procurement efficiencies and cost optimization. • Support budgeting, forecasting, and procurement planning activities. **4. Supply Assurance & Risk Management** • Ensure timely availability of materials and services to support production and business operations. • Identify, assess, and mitigate supply chain risks through dual sourcing, supplier diversification, and contingency planning. • Monitor supplier capacity, operational performance, and financial health. • Develop and maintain procurement-related Business Continuity Plans (BCP) to strengthen supply resilience. **5. Contract Management & Compliance** • Draft, negotiate, review, and manage procurement contracts and framework agreements. • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, procurement policies, and regulatory requirements. • Manage supplier claims, penalties, and dispute resolution processes. • Maintain procurement documentation and records for audit readiness and governance compliance. **6. Inventory & Cross-Functional Coordination** • Collaborate with Planning, Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Finance, and Logistics teams to align procurement activities with operational requirements. • Optimize inventory levels while ensuring material availability and minimizing stock-outs. • Support new product introductions, localization projects, and supplier qualification initiatives. • Monitor procurement KPIs and service levels to drive continuous improvement. **7. Performance Monitoring & Reporting** •Track procurement metrics including cost savings, supplier performance, inventory availability, and sourcing effectiveness. • Develop dashboards, reports, and management reviews for procurement performance. • Present key insights, risks, and recommendations to leadership teams. • Drive data-based decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives across procurement operations. **Qualifications:** • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management,Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field. • MBA / PGDM in Supply Chain, Operations, Procurement, or related discipline preferred. • 6–8+ years of experience in Procurement, leading teams or managing procurement functions. • Experience in manufacturing, Strategic Sourcing, Supply Chain, or Vendor Management. • Minimum 2 years of experience automotive, EV, engineering, electronics, industrial, or related sectors preferred. • Proven track record in supplier development, strategic sourcing, and contract negotiations. **Why Battery Smart:** • Play a key role in building India’s largest battery-swapping ecosystem. • Work with a high-growth organization driving EV adoption at scale. • Opportunity to influence strategic sourcing and supplier partnerships. • High ownership, fast-paced environment, and continuous learning opportunities. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams solving real-world supply chain challenges.
