**Role Summary** The Legal Manager will be responsible for managing legal matters related to the Gold Loan business, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, RBI regulations, legal documentation, litigation management, recovery proceedings, and legal risk mitigation. The role requires close coordination with business, operations, collections, compliance, and external legal partners to safeguard the organization's interests. Key Responsibilities Legal Advisory & Compliance - Provide legal guidance and support to Gold Loan business operations. - Ensure compliance with RBI guidelines, applicable laws, and internal policies. - Review and advise on legal risks associated with lending operations and recovery processes. - Monitor changes in regulatory requirements and recommend necessary actions. Litigation Management - Handle civil, consumer, arbitration, and recovery-related cases for Gold Loan - Coordinate with advocates and legal consultants for effective case management. - Monitor court proceedings and ensure timely filing of pleadings, affidavits, and responses. - Represent the organization before courts, tribunals, Lok Adalats, and other legal forums wherever required. Recovery & Enforcement - Support collections and recovery teams in initiating legal actions against defaulting borrowers. - Manage SARFAESI, arbitration, and other recovery proceedings where applicable. - Ensure timely legal notices, recovery documentation, and legal follow-up actions. - Assist in settlement negotiations and dispute resolution. Documentation & Contract Management - Review, draft, and vet legal documents, agreements, notices, contracts, and vendor engagements. - Ensure proper maintenance and custody of legal records and case files. - Support branch and regional teams on legal documentation requirements. Stakeholder Coordination - Liaise with external advocates, law firms, government authorities, police departments, and regulatory bodies. - Work closely with Operations, Audit, Risk, Compliance, and Business teams. - Provide legal training and awareness sessions to branch and regional teams. Reporting & Governance - Maintain litigation trackers and legal MIS reports. - Present case updates and legal risk assessments to management. - Support internal audits and regulatory inspections from a legal perspective. Qualifications Education - Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Mandatory. - LLM or additional legal certifications will be an added advantage. Experience - Minimum 710 years of experience in Legal functions within Banking, NBFC, Financial Services, or Gold Loan Industry. - Experience in litigation management, recovery proceedings, and regulatory compliance is preferred. - Exposure to Gold Loan operations and lending regulations will be highly preferred. Skills & Competencies - Strong knowledge of banking, NBFC, contract, recovery, and civil laws. - Understanding of RBI regulations applicable to lending businesses. - Excellent drafting, negotiation, and legal advisory skills. - Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. - Ability to independently manage multiple legal matters. - Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills. - Proficiency in legal documentation, MS Office, and MIS reporting. - High level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail. Preferred Requirements - Experience in Gold Loan, Retail Lending, or Secured Lending businesses. - Fluency in English and Kannada. - Ability to travel across branches and courts within the assigned region. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) - Timely closure of legal and recovery cases. - Reduction in legal risks and compliance issues. - Effective management of litigation portfolio. - Timely legal support to business and operations teams. - Regulatory and audit compliance adherence.
