Position: Should Cost Engineer – Trim Department: Cost Engineering Industry: Automotive (Passenger Vehicle / EV) Experience: 3–9 Years Qualification: B.E./B.Tech or equivalent Location: Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Job Purpose To develop accurate should-cost models for vehicle trim components using zero-based costing (ZBC), manufacturing process analysis, benchmarking, and supplier cost validation. The role will support procurement, localization, value engineering, and target cost achievement for new vehicle programs. Requirements: • Prepare detailed cost estimates for new automobile parts, assemblies, and vehicles • Analyse BOM (Bill of Materials) and manufacturing processes to determine material, labour, and overhead costs • Support RFQ / quotation preparation for customers and internal projects • Conduct should-cost analysis for bought-out parts and vendor-supplied components • Work with design and R&D teams during product development to achieve cost targets • Analyse cost impact of design changes, localization, and value engineering activities • Monitor actual vs. estimated costs and highlight variances • Support vendor negotiations with cost breakdowns and benchmarking data • Maintain costing databases and ensure documentation accuracy • Participate in cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives Preferred candidate profile • 3-9 years of experience in costing, estimation, manufacturing, or project engineering. • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and materials in Trims Interior and Exterior part • (Headliner, Carpet, NVH insulations, Bumper, Roof Rails, etc.) Seat costing is an added advantage • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Catia • Ability to read engineering drawings and technical specifications. • Knowledge of cost estimation techniques and financial analysis.
