Location: Gurgaon, Haryana Department: Procurement / Purchase Experience: 510 years Industry: Food / Flour Milling / Commodities Employment Type: Full-time Key Responsibilities 1. Wheat Procurement • Develop and manage a reliable network of wheat suppliers, traders, commission agents and mandi sources. • Identify and procure wheat based on the companys milling and production requirements. • Negotiate price, quality, quantity, payment terms and delivery schedules with suppliers. • Monitor daily wheat prices across relevant mandis and markets. • Maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers while continuously developing new sourcing channels. • Ensure timely procurement to meet mill requirements and avoid production disruptions. 2. Commodity Market Intelligence • Track wheat prices, mandi arrivals, crop conditions and market movements. • Understand seasonal trends and anticipate price movements to support procurement decisions. • Monitor government policies, MSP, import/export developments and other factors affecting wheat prices. • Provide regular updates to management on procurement opportunities and market outlook. 3. Wheat Quality & Specifications • Coordinate with the Quality and Production teams to understand required wheat specifications. • Ensure procurement meets agreed parameters such as: Moisture Test weight / hectolitre weight Protein Gluten Foreign matter Damaged / shrivelled grains Admixture Other milling-quality parameters • Work with suppliers to resolve quality deviations and claims. 4. Supplier Management • Evaluate and onboard new suppliers based on price, quality, reliability and capacity. • Maintain supplier performance records. • Negotiate commercial terms and ensure adherence to agreed contracts. • Build long-term relationships with key wheat suppliers. 5. Procurement Planning & Coordination • Coordinate with Production, Sales, Stores, Logistics, Finance and Quality teams to understand requirements. • Plan procurement based on mill consumption, inventory levels and expected requirements. • Monitor incoming consignments and ensure timely deliveries to the mills. • Coordinate with logistics teams to optimise freight and landed procurement cost. 6. Cost Management • Evaluate the landed cost of wheat, including purchase price, freight, loading/unloading and other associated costs. • Identify opportunities to reduce procurement costs without compromising quality. • Maintain procurement records and provide regular MIS to management. 7. Documentation & Systems • Maintain accurate purchase records, supplier data, contracts and procurement reports. • Ensure purchase transactions and inventory movements are properly recorded in SAP Business One / ERP. • Prepare regular reports on: Quantity purchased Average purchase price Supplier-wise purchases Mandi-wise purchases Inventory position Market prices Procurement savings / variance Candidate Profile Required • 5-10 years of experience in commodity procurement/purchase. • Strong preference for candidates with direct experience in wheat procurement. • Experience in flour milling, food processing, FMCG, agri commodities, grain trading or similar industries will be preferred. • Strong understanding of wheat markets and commodity pricing. • Existing relationships with wheat traders, commission agents, mandis or aggregators will be an advantage. • Strong negotiation and supplier-management skills. • Good analytical and numerical ability. • Willingness to travel to mandis, supplier locations and mills when required. • Good communication and interpersonal skills. • Working knowledge of MS Excel and ERP/SAP.
