The Deputy General Manager (DGM) of Payroll and Compliance is responsible for overseeing end-to-end payroll processing and enforcing statutory labour law regulations. This role will lead in mitigating risk and ensure 100% accuracy and regulatory compliance across the organization. - **End-to-End Payroll Processing:** Multi-country/multi-state payroll cycles, managing everything from input data collection and attendance verification to final salary disbursements and tax deductions. - **Statutory Compliance:** Ensure strict adherence to statutory laws—such as Provident Fund (PF), ESIC, Professional Tax (PT), gratuity, and Tax Deducted at Source (TDS). Keep updated with central and state-specific labor codes. - **Vendor & Stakeholder Management:** Collaborate with third-party payroll vendors, internal HR teams, and finance/accounting departments to reconcile budgets and ensure seamless compensation delivery. - **Audit & Risk Management:** Lead internal payroll audits, resolve complex discrepancies, and prepare the company to seamlessly handle external statutory inspections. **Key Skills:** - **Experience:** Typically 15 to 20 years of progressive experience in HR Operations, Payroll Management, and Statutory Compliance. - **Education:** Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Human Resources. An MBA or PGDM is highly preferred. - **System Proficiency:** Advanced knowledge of automated payroll and HRIS systems (e.g., Workday, ADP, Paychex). - **Analytical & Soft Skills:** Keen attention to mathematical accuracy, deep knowledge of labour laws, excellent conflict resolution capabilities, and absolute discretion with sensitive employee data.
